The early 2000s was a difficult time, especially for the PLAAF.
It was a time when the tactic of sacrificing 8 J-8s for the chance of scoring a kill on the F22 was considered the best option.

@heatloss1986 To sum up a point (my annoyance is with acquisition). If they can meet the target at 200B, holy fuck yes. But I've seen what's happening with other platforms in the DOD and I have no hope for this one. (Even if it's more than 200b, it could still be a functional strategy)
@heatloss1986 I'll fully admit, I haven't looked into the $ cost of GD but I'm curious to see the numbers. Also, what were they intercepting with? 200B would be a steal.
@heatloss1986 Discrimination these days is actually incredible, especially where it counts (detection/interception). I don't care about capability, I fear magazine depth.
