Chanticleer award-winning author of the Liam Sol surf noir mysteries. Introverted and a little out of step. "Searching for light in the darkness of insanity."
And here's the award-winning sequel--in case you're interested. "Burgess captures the Vietnam-era surf culture of Southern California with a Raymond Chandler-esque grittiness...A must read for fans of mystery and suspense/thrillers!" https://t.co/yBFYILIAKF
Since today is #InternationalSurfingDay, I am required to partake in a little self-promotion. Surf, Sun, Sex, and Murder--all for just $2.99 on Kindle! #SurfNoir https://t.co/oqVHJLsgnu
John Milius: "Write what you want to see. If you don’t, you won't have any true passion in it, and it won't be done with any true artistry." #screenwriting
If you ever get lost while writing a scene, remind yourself:
1. The story you're telling.
2. The emotion you want to evoke.
Keep these two things up front, and they will lead you out of most trouble.
Your first draft is not supposed to be good.
Say it with me: your first draft is NOT supposed to be good.
It's supposed to be messy and contradictory and full of plot holes.
Look at every book you love on your shelf and realize that exactly ZERO of them started out that way.
They all started out as rough drafts riddled with issues that got ironed out in revision.
So trust the process and keep going. Your draft doesn't have to be good yet — it just has to be on the page.
So Italy's Senate president has now weighed in on Trump's claim Meloni begged him for a photo.
Ignazio La Russa: "I'd rather eat a live chicken than believe Giorgia Meloni begging anyone."
The biology of a shallow reflecting pool in Washington, DC is not a partisan conspiracy. Warm water grows algae. Large pools require constant maintenance. That was true before Trump and remains true today.
What is remarkable is claiming credit for solving a long-standing problem after awarding the contract to a previously convicted fraudster, only to end up with a blue surface that retains more heat, promotes algae growth, and is now reportedly peeling. That is not a triumph over nature. It is an expensive lesson in it.
Meloni doesn't understand the rules. According to the rules, Trump lies flagrantly, then you're supposed to grin and bear it, because "that's just Trump being Trump" and you're not a snob and "moral preener," are you? Meloni, who has a sense of dignity, says: to hell with that.
