Be consumed by your ambition. There is no deeper betrayal than abandoning your own becoming. Be haunted by your potential until you have no choice but to see it through.
Around 1900, Argentina was something like the third richest country in the world. Anyone who visits Buenos Aires can see this-- there are majestic, still standing buildings from Argentina's golden era. Buildings that used to host some of the world's great corporations.
“There are only two kinds of people: those who say to God, ‘Thy will be done,’ and those to whom God says, ‘All right, then, have it your way.’” - C.S. Lewis
Late 20's is a fantastic time as a man (assuming you kept moving your feet in the direction of where ur soul kept telling u to go) because u get to see the first "closing of the loops" of decisions you consciously made on ur own in ur early 20's. It's like you finally get to the top of the hill & can see over the other side, which can be either a beautiful or a frightening thing
Assuming u answered ur call, all of those failed ventures & random sidequests sort of just morph together, creating the type of multi-faceted man you had to become to achieve what you wanted. Putting your "actual potential" target at levels you never even really considered before
The core realization when you look back on early 20's is there is no "perfectly straight" path (because although where u end up in late 20's will be what was in your mind's eye, how you got there will be way fucking different than you ever imagined) and all of your old "best guesses" on how to "get there" that were divinely specific to you, all ended up being correct. Self-prescription was the only working prescription. All else faded away.
U realize that light within you that's guiding your way forward (if you let it) is pulling only from all that is within you. It is a self-contained directionality system, unable to be fully conveyed to anyone else - because it pulls from you & your talents/gifts, not the outside world's.
Anyone who has honored this internal GPS & refused to stop moving forward will usually lap their targets by late 20's (and will have you thinking you should have shot higher than you did) - but there is also an extreme motivation to take it to the "next level" and really hit the gas pedal for that 2nd wind.
U basically achieve ur dreams & then start re-extrapolating those dreams into new versions of the same dreams. It's all the same in a way, but it just gets simultaneously larger & more simple. U find ur lane, settle into it, & enjoy the process as well as the result. Much different than early 20's where u r essentially suffocating until the external world catches up
Apparently there is an ETF focused solely on monopolies/oligopolies. Ticker $TOLL
Fund holdings below. Lots of good names worth researching on their own. I like the concept behind the fund, seems like something that could fit well with a hands-off, ETF/MF only portfolio.
