It seems the vast majority of football Twitter actually thinks looking at the ball whilst you kick it is some of circus trick, like Jordan's eyes-closed free throw. Football is such an accessible, global sport - how come so many ppl never played it?!
@PSGOAT123 Saw Wemby play for Metropolitans 92 v Paris at Halles George Carpentier in 2022. The queues snaked round the little car park. He scored about 15 points and fouled out with a minute left.
@ThomasBuckets78@TornadicDoge24@NekiasNBA I assume you are a loyal, regular Suns fan. In the European model you would have the same seat for a load less money, for all their games, and be surrounded by fellow hardcore Suns fans at every game. Vehemently objecting to this is a strange hill to die on, even for an American
@ThomasBuckets78@TornadicDoge24@NekiasNBA I canโt work out if youโre just being stupid for the sake of it now! The whole point is that ticket prices on sporting events outside the US are NOT, I repeat NOT, dictated by the basic laws of supply and demand, and this is why real fans are able to enjoy all the games.
@ThomasBuckets78@TornadicDoge24@NekiasNBA Ffs this is like talking to a spoilt child. You get rich people in Europe too. The point is most tix to big games are distributed based on loyalty not wealth, do not cost more than regular games, and therefore allow proper fans (rich or otherwise) to see the important games.
@ThomasBuckets78@TornadicDoge24@NekiasNBA What a plank. A fan isnโt defined by his/her disposable income ffs. Canโt actually believe what Iโm reading. Youโve been tricked into thinking wealth is a virtue. Real fans are ppl who watch the regular games, and many now canโt afford to watch the biggest games of the lot.
@ThomasBuckets78@TornadicDoge24@NekiasNBA The money in sport is not in gate receipts. It's in media and merch. Loyalty is valued in football (at a small cost to clubs) cos they know proper fans are a massive part of it. The NBA atmosphere is laughably shyte, so you guys are the real losers here.
@ThomasBuckets78@TornadicDoge24@NekiasNBA Yes of course it is! You should get a passport and see for yourself. My team has a capacity of 9k and played Man City last season. They could have filled it charging ยฃ200 a head, but they wouldn't dream of doing that because that isn't how sport works in other countries.
@ThomasBuckets78@TornadicDoge24@NekiasNBA That's spoken like someone who's never left USA! Football is the most 'cared about' sport on the planet and real fans aren't priced out of big games cos clubs value loyalty over the relatively tiny income generated from gate receipts. This is why the NBA atmosphere is panto shyte
@LegionHoops@TickPick No wonder NBA games have the atmosphere of a travelling circus. This doesn't happen in any other country. Gate receipts are a drop in the ocean in the overall picture, so there's no excuse for pricing out proper fans in favour of vacuous Instagram luvvies. Rancid stuff.
@hoopshype@GallivantingTme Two tired football teams cancel one another out and barely try to score, so bolting on another 15 mins wouldnโt change much. In this respect it is nothing like basketball. The โfairestโ solution is a replay, which we did for decades. But that creates an anticlimax for fans.
@Flav_Bateman Theyโre stinking to watch but you must be a lot younger than you look if you think a system like this being successful is a sign of how far football has fallen. Italian sides dominated football in the 90s doing very similar. West Germany won Italia 90 doing it ffs.
@LegionHoops@TickPick In most countries tix for big games are offered first to ppl who have been to x number of regular games. What % of MSG tix are reserved for actual fans? Seems horrendous that the biggest games in Knicks' recent history could be full of rich folk who don't give a shyte.
@KnicksMemes This kid's kitchen is bigger than my house yet he's a gibbering wreck when he's given tickets to watch his team play. There is something badly wrong about the price of sport in the US!
