Right now, I only see two reasons why Anthropic dropped Claude Sonnet 5.5 the day before DevDay!
First: Claude Sonnet 5.5 is so good that Anthropic is confident OpenAI won't have an answer for it, and DevDay won't overshadow their release!
But the second scenario is far more interesting.
Anthropic knows-or suspects-that DevDay is going to pack tons of massive announcements that will likely dwarf Opus, being much bigger and more capable than both Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5!
So they rushed Sonnet 5.5 out the door just to get ahead of it before DevDay steals the spotlight!

@emanueledpt So I just wait patiently for them to fix stuff, because they are humans after all and can’t just wave a magic wand. As a scientist, I know how these things take time. Not everyone, unfortunately, appreciates that.
@emanueledpt People are just impatient these days. No wonder divorce rates and single parents are so high in our society these days. My codex and ChatGPT behaves bad at times these days, but I understand that they are preparing for DevDay so they might be busy with stuff etc…

I think people are getting too aggressive toward OpenAI.
This whole "movement" started when Astra didn't feel as good as it did at launch.
Then Astra started eating through our subscriptions like crazy, but now it seems to be better.
That alone shows OpenAI is tenacious enough to bring usage up for every one of us.
Astra is still the best model in the world, even with Opus 5.5 out.
I also want you to remember that Anthropic still has Fable at 50% of weekly usage, even though their sub is much more usable right now.
This space shifts way too quickly, and people don't seem to stick with anything.
One day OpenAI is doomed, the next they're on top, and people get too comfortable declaring that a certain company now sucks.
There are still people out there trying to bring you the best model, the best coding app, and the best experience in the world.
When I was in their private Slack, all I saw were amazing people working hard to gather our feedback and improve things for us.
Then there's the whole reset issue.
People get mad when they give a banked reset, and people get mad when they force a reset.
Can't we just be grateful that we're getting more out of a $200 sub than we probably should?
AI has always been a race: one day someone wins at one thing, and someone else loses at another.
OpenAI employees are great and super available, and I don't think this hate and complaining helps anyone.
@imjustnewatai I foresee JEV becoming a decision engine within several AI models instead of a standalone model…more like a B2B integration within major harnesses and models. Mark it down!!

@haydendevs Yeah, people are shifting to it now to save tokens!
5.6 Terra xhigh ist soooo gut!! Please spare Astra & Sol for planning & UI solely.
