Check out the Park's newest visitor — a beaver! 🦫 Recently seen swimming around Gansevoort Peninsula, this beaver marks the first recorded sighting in our 400-acre Estuarine Sanctuary! Though a rare sight in NYC, beavers are native to our local waterways.

@lunchappraiser the ammonia is actually a byproduct of respiration from the gills. The “solids” get filtered out before reaching the produce but can still be used as fertilizer for those who don’t share your squeamishness.
The answer to this fertilizer problem is aquaponic farming. Replace petrochemical based nitrates with hydroponic byproducts. Fish can feed our plants, and provide a clean source of protein for us, all using far less water than traditional farming.
