Today is Day 8 of Black History Month!

58 yrs ago today, South Carolina cops shot Black students protesting the segregation of a bowling alley, killing 3 & injuring 28. This is known as the Orangeburg Massacre & is the 1st instance of cops killing student protestors in the USA.

@foxgirlhrt Another thing: many of the folks experiencing this only found out about this due to SNAP and homeless shelters directly telling them that their SSN is invalid.

@foxgirlhrt Multiple folks who have experienced this have gone to social security in person or have contacted via phone in attempt to resolve the issue to no avail.

Lawyers are being contacted to see what can be done.

Don’t go accusing folks of stuff when you don’t know the full picture.

Yesterday I received info that some queer folks (especially trans folks) are being told their social security info “doesnt exist”. This has even led to some of them losing their SNAP benefits.

I even tested my own SSN to see if it works, and it doesn’t.

On this day 3 years ago a shooter committed an attack on a queer bar in Bratislava, Slovakia which left 2 folks dead, 1 injured & many more traumatized

This sort of violence is what happens when fascist rhetoric goes unchecked. Hate speech is violence & shld be treated as such
