An update on FSD Supervised in Europe

FSD is currently approved in five EU countries (NL, DK, BE, EE, LT), used by >70k customers for over 1 million km per day, and is 4.1x less likely to get into a crash compared to manual driving, measured across 100 million km on public EU roads.

Leading up to a potential EU-wide approval vote for FSD Supervised on October 6th, 2026, we have decided to open-source one of the key pieces of evidence used to support the Netherlands approval.

As a reminder, we adjusted the FSD design to be compliant with existing regulation (UN-R-171 DCAS) but requested an exemption for certain behaviors via the EU Article 39 procedure. The following dashboard is evidence of safety for those exemptions.

This exact dashboard was shared with all EU Member States in April 2026, shortly after RDW’s approval, and all data presented is from before that date.

European countries recorded 19,400 road deaths in 2025. That's around 53 deaths/day, with the vast majority of these crashes attributed to human error. These deaths are largely preventable with technology we have today.

FSD Supervised is already saving lives where it’s approved – yet in much of Europe, that safety benefit remains locked behind bureaucracy.

Tesla chose to remove lane assist/autosteer with their free autopilot in all countries that offer FSD, only keeping Traffic-Aware Cruise Control, so that people choose the $99/month FSD. Here is what Tesla SHOULD be doing instead:

Offer a free autopilot that does ALL the things FSD does, using the latest stack with continuous updates, except making turns.

What would that mean?
- The car would drive on all roads and under all conditions that FSD can drive under
- The car would be as good as FSD with regards to accelerating and braking (TACC++), incl. stopping at stop signs and traffic lights, interpreting hand gestures, and everything else involving longitudinal dynamics
- The car would be as good as FSD with regards to turning the steering wheel, incl. taking roundabouts, avoiding obstacles, overtaking, going through construction zones, and everything else involving lateral dynamics EXCEPT making actual turns (ie leaving the current road)

What does excluding turns but doing everything else do? It shows the driver the potential. It keeps them safe. (Taking away autosteer could put people in danger who think that the emergency lane assist can do more than that.)

But turns are so frequent in everyday driving (outside of highways) that not having that one capability should make drivers itch to go all in. Constantly having to take over to make a turn takes away a lot of the convenience and comfort that FSD brings.

And EVEN IF many people don’t choose to upgrade to full FSD, the missed revenue shouldn’t worry Tesla. Mid term, the goal is L4 anyway. THAT will have the real value that nobody can deny. THAT will mean an explosion of revenue for Tesla. Not the L2++ state we’re currently in.

Das ist natürlich totaler Unsinn, sieh dir die Abdeckung in Österreich doch mal genau an, da fehlt es an einigen Ecken. Süden rund um Österreich auch erbärmlich.
Ebenso Preise einfach nicht gut und dann meistens 2 Zeiten.
Der lifetime Free Supercharge Bullshit, der die Preise für die Menge hoch hält, von dem red ich gar nicht.
Was Tesla besser kann ist skalieren und die SW der SUC, man kann sagen, dass ca. 98% immer funktionieren, dass ist bei den Anderen nicht überall so.

Genau wie Bugatti Supersportwagen, die nur 130 km/h fahren dürfen und solche gibt es ja bei vielen Herstellern. 😏
