I’m really not a fan of these post voting-booth “gotcha” videos that expose people’s gaps in electoral understanding.
Voter turnout out is already dismally low. Everyone should get a high five just for showing up.
These videos are just an obnoxious form of gatekeeping.
@ty_olsen Absolutely this. Just undertook a 24 hour journey from Kamloops to Switzerland with the 6 and 9 yr olds and they were total champs all three flights because of unencumbered ST ( normally pretty ruthlessly limited to a couple hours on weekends only).
At 5 years old, my mom and I would drive over this bridge every morning at 7am as CBC World Report came on, which is how I knew we were on time. She’d drop me at daycare and head to work at RIH.
35 years later, I still cross it twice a day.
Just gutted 💔
Woof. What a late start. These athletes are used to 6am training sessions. I always hated games that tipped off later than 7pm.
It’s mentally exhausting trying to stay focused on a monumental game when it starts 14+ hours after you wake up.
I feel for all the players!
USA defeats China 50-47 in the first women's wheelchair basketball semifinal.
So now it's down to Canada vs Netherlands for the opportunity to play USA for gold on Sunday.
Tip-off is at 9:30pm local, 3:30pm ET.
Mid year resolution: use Twitter to ID nice and good things, not just headaches.
Attempt 1: on a recent @BCFerries trip we saw some orcas. That was neat.
Look at me go!
@PassportCan Well I mean. I’m not traveling in the next two days because if I was, the location you’re suggesting will sort this out is 330 km away.
This cannot be the answer. How does one fix this without a 700km roadtrip?
Update on the 5 year old’s missing passport: still missing, now 8 weeks, and after calling the number given to me by @PassportCan , sitting on hold for two hours, the human who answered refused to help, saying I shouldn’t have been given this number, and hung up on me 🫠
Desperately trying to figure out why my 5 yr old’s passport is now 4 weeks overdue. Passport Canada is “not accepting calls right now due to high call volume” and boots me back to the website, which instructs me to call. Incredible service 😑. @PassportCan
And now for the positive: had a great time with the fam at @surfgrove in Tofino and at Little Qualicum Falls provincial park, both of which had top notch accessible facilities that were clearly thought out.
Please do better @BCFerries
This ‘disability card’ business that requires medical forms to be filled out when 40% of British columbians don’t have family doctors is nonsense. If you have a wheelchair, you have a wheelchair. Stop complicating things.
End/
So here I am, shouting into the void about what it’s like to live with a disability in 2024. I sit on the BC Provincial Accessibility Committee, where I use my voice to TELL THE GOVERNMENT how to do better and yet here, on the ground, where it matters, nothing changes. 10/
