Through her nonprofit, Dr. Saad is leading community-driven efforts to strengthen food security, support rural livelihoods, and empower women and youth in Sudan during an ongoing humanitarian crisis.

One of SPAFS' inspiring initiatives, "Revolving Hope Through Food & Enterprise," helps women launch food-based microenterprises through a revolving microfinance model—creating sustainable opportunities, strengthening local economies, and building lasting community resilience.

The number of women-owned businesses grew 12% from 2022 to 2025, nearly double the growth rate for businesses owned by men. 💅

While that growth is undeniable, the full potential is still untapped. Despite their presence, women-owned businesses capture a smaller share of revenue and employment, held back by barriers to capital, limited access to networks, and fewer opportunities to scale.

We need to work to close that gap so that women-owned businesses have what they need to grow and continue to create jobs, drive income, and shape the future of the economy.
