@FreakZoneGames Switch is widely available and affordable, and does not require any knowledge in advance to just fire up and play games on.
Steam deck is none of these things. It's a amazing handheld no doubt, but between price and ease of use, Nintendo offers a much more appealing product.
@HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN Past successes are great, but you can't expect them alone to carry a game idea or concept that many simply didn't understand or didn't enjoy. All the crazy narrative in the world will not save a plodding and unenjoyable game play loop, regardless of it being tied to the plot.
@HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN That said I don't design games, but I can tell you that us old facts cam only rave so much about how good Metal Gear Solid on PS1, MRS 3:Snake Eater or Snatcher were, before the next gen of gamers pick up Death Stranding based on past praise and wonder - What the hell is this?
@MattMcMuscles Yep, I'm still waiting for the Combat and Star Raiders mini series since I can't turn to channel 3 on my TV anymore, the dial is stuck on channel 2 and my Atari isn't happy about it.
@Bolverk15 The difference is, the examples shown aren't just "based" on the source material, they manage to be thier own seperate entries that are very entertaining, and do not require any previous knowledge of the source material to fully enjoy.
Just an image to follow up on what I meant by a large backlog, since people seemed to think I meant 5 or 6 unplayed games.
Nope, hundreds of full retail and indie games . Last additions not long ago were Cogen: Sword of Rewind and Mortal Shell.
The fuck is wrong with me :/
@Sykorax976 For the 6-7 hours or so I put into it, it seemed like a quality game you could easily play for several months and unless your an easily distracted idiot like me, become beyond addicted to the gameplay loop.
It also looks and sounds amazing.
@Win98Tech Bomberman: Act Zero on the Xbox 360 certainly stands out as one of the worst pieces of media "entertainment" I've ever endured in my life, and one of the absolute worst reboots of a classic game franchise to date.
I want to say it was Tales of Vesperia on Xbox 360 where despite how enjoyable it should have been, I felt like trying to constantly keep track of the characters status in battle kept taking away from enjoying what I recall being a really nice game from what I played of it.
I'm also being asked if I played any Xs or Tales games. I have, not sure why I keep forgetting them since Ys VIII kicked serious ass on the Vita...but as for Tales-
The combat wrecks me. I flat out can't seem to handle the fights. They seem like great games though regardless.
This is just to name a few, but I'm also someone who just flat out never understood why Final Fantasy VII was so beloved, and if you asked is going to tell you to play FFIX instead, and then recommend Valkyrie Profile afterwards.
So A LOT of private messages asking me details about what actual RPGs I actually enjoyed, so-
Chrono Trigger, Thousand Arms, Nier, Shadow Hearts, Kings Field II, Shadow Tower, Brave Fencer Musashi, Grandia, Golden Sun, Lost Odyessy, Persona 3, 4, 5, Digimon Cyber Sluth Saga
@0perationZer0 Agreed there, you need a strong stomach to get through this one, though I warn you now -
You will most likely laugh when you really shouldn't, because Art is both diabolical but also hilarious at the same time.
Quick correction, though I'm not 100% sure it counts, but the last SRPG I played recently was actually Digimon Survive, or at least battles seemed designed like a SRPG - hard to say since almost 2 hours from the opening is kinda like a toned down horror visual novel.
@GizmoHibiki To be fair, same thing happened with Mario Kart and Mario Maker, and he'll even Zelda: BoTW over time, and they are all great games.
Per example about this time I was really enjoying Yooka-Laylee and The Impossible Lair or Hat In Time(not on the Switch for this one though).
Following up on my last tweets- what would people say are games from 2021-2022 that are worth playing.
I'm not talking about GOTY contenders here, I'm talking 100% recommended from people who enjoy gaming.
Chances are, I probably have it sitting in that backlog I mentioned.
@GizmoHibiki Played Smash on Switch a lot when I first got it, long before all the additional characters, and I think I'm kinda bored or burnt out with the series at this point - I mean I've played it on every Nintendo platform it released on, even the 3DS.
@EricCha68459770 Just got to the first "boss" in RE:Village not long ago, or at least I think it is anyway- room with steam powered blade/motorized thing that I seem unable to avoid.
Probably missing some painfully easy solution though, I dunno. Great game from what I played so far though.
