I have been into whiskey for nearly 4 years now and I only just became aware of Ben Nevis probably 3 months ago. Maybe it’s just me but it never crossed my path, but I’m glad I’ve now found it. If your reading this and haven’t yet tried Ben Nevis, I recommend you give it a go....
Well..both Islay whiskies, both 46%, both non chill filtered, both NAS and Both finished in Red Wine Casks and that isn’t where the similarities end. I was actually astonished at how similar these releases were. Both had that fruity core draped in a veil of campfire smoke and....
@jenkaloid @Ardbeg@VintageMaltWhis@MasterOfMalt@WhiskyExchange I’m no expert on the subject, but if I blind tasted these whiskies I seriously doubt I could pick them apart. I noticed slight (and I mean slight) variances but not to the point that I personally could differentiate. I think there will be another purchase of Finlaggan soon 👍
they both combine the sweet and savoury notes well. I’m not saying the Ardbeg blaaack isn’t a good whisky, I’m saying the Finlaggan Islay Red Wine Finish is a very good expression that rivals the blaaack.....

Tonight’s dram, I’m ashamed to admit it, but it took me an embarrassingly long time to discover the delight that is Glengoyne. But all is well as it now is a mainstay in my collection and I just can’t get passed how well priced the 10 and 12 are for the quality they provide. 👌
