@SachinAcharya@TripToBlog Thank you Sachin! This was taken through the windshield of my XTerra using the owners manual on the dashboard as a tripod. It was absolutely pouring out and I wasn't about to step out into that lightning. You can see some reflections on the wet hood.
@icarus_pictures Thank you so much, that means a lot! I will be spending the next few years in the Wisconsin area while the solar cycle is at its peak activity, so hopefully more opportunities await in the future.
@SonjaSwissLife Thank you for noticing the detail of my aligning of the plants to the aurorae. This was done intentionally for a seamless link between ground and sky. That is great to hear you have a connection to Wisconsin! It is at a high magnetic latitude so the aurorae blaze brightly here.
Another great night of aurora displays occurred in the wee hours of early morning on Monday, 8/12/2024. This image was captured in the Wisconsin wilderness just after 1 AM.

@RobDGosselin The purists will say only shooting in black and white counts. But de-saturating a color image is a very common practice, and can often help convert a mediocre image with subtle color to become a great image with mood.
