Amongst all the supermarket swill masquerading as offers, this quality wine merchant in Bristol is still a safe pair of hands. These might be a bit pricey but the quality is astounding @averyswine

A swing and a miss with this vile ‘Napa Cabernet’ of indeterminate origin. Any blackcurrant fruit is masked by swathes of confected vanilla and a strange hot aftertaste. The excellent Oakland Napa Cab from Costco is in a different universe @CalifWinesUK @aldi @Costco

I’ve revisited Morrisons ‘half price’ wines of the week and here’s yet another swing and a miss, even at £6. Dull fruit a pinch of coconut but not enough to elevate above plonk. The same goes for the Coonawarra Cabernet which was weak and medicinal. In short a big con @Morrisons

Haven’t had this for ages. Still full of rich red and black fruits, smoother than a shaved peach and a belter with rib eye steak. Bliss and despite Tesco no longer selling, it can be had direct from the Tom Adam’s website @timadamswines

Picked this very cheap offer from Aldi but not even worth the £3.99. Very thin with a hint of berries which are overshadowed by a really ‘off’ taste. Stick with the excellent Specially selected Argentinian Malbec

Picked this up at a bin end sale in Asda and it’s full of sweetly delicious red fruits, warming spice and great length. Beautiful and one of the best Rhône’s I’ve had. ALWAYS go for the best winemakers @asda @M_Chapoutier @RhoneWine

Enjoying this delicious Bonarda Malbec with a Friday night spag bol. Full of soft juicy red fruit with enough acidity to work well with pasta and pizza. Only £6.50 in Co op and the pic on the front shows the school this wine helps to fund. Awesome @winesofarg @coopuk

Had this little beauty with miso black code from Costco last night. Full of the peachy and floral notes you often get from white Rhone but finishing fresh and crisp. Around £12 in Sainsburys. The cod was bloody great too @Beaucastel @RhoneWine @sainsburys @CostcoUK

A couple of lovely reds on tasting at Majestic. The Rioja is the epitome of bright red fruit wrapped up in coconut and spice whereas the Pinot is all juicy berries with far more immediate enjoyment than more expensive Bourgogne @majesticwine @majesticwot @RiojaWine @VinoViews

An excellent Franciacorta. Better left to warm up a little out of the fridge whereby it displays classic champagne brioche notes underpinned by crisp acidity. If you see it in Majestic or Tesco for around £20, snap it up

Decent juicy drop of red, full of deep plum and blackberry with nicely warming spice and made by the terrific Ben Glaetzer. Excellent with sausage casserole and a bargain £8.99 mix six price @majesticwine @heartlandwines @AustWineTasting

Another exquisite drop of red from Great Wine. Full of deep cherry, bramble and blackcurrant fruit with smoky spice and smooth tannins. £45 down to £15 as part of a mixed dozen if you’re quick @bonterrawine @TheGreatWineCo

@VinoViews @TescoDrinks @WinesOfCA I really wanted to like it and snap up more but it just didn’t have the zip and bags of flavour you usually get from white rhone blends.

Disappointed in this which I was very much looking forward to. On discount to £12 from £20 at Tesco but I can see why. Soft to the point of flabby and hints of pear when the grapes here should produce lush peachy flavours. White CdR is a far better bet @TescoDrinks @WinesOfCA
