There was one of these in my great grandmother's kitchen. I remember sitting on it to watch the Miss America pageant on the small tv in the kitchen. I think there are some pics of my brother and I sitting on it. Very little.

We didn't have air conditioning when we lived in Galt, which was about 3 years in total of my childhood. Not even window units. We also didn't have central heat. We had a wood stove with ducts leading to the upstairs bedrooms to keep them warm.
