I remember being told once as a child that if there’s ever a fire, the most valuable things to rescue were books, and it always stuck & taught me that books were a huge privilege and an honor if I could get access. The smallest things parents say really do so much when we’re kids
Not gonna lie it’s very concerning how capitalistic books have become
There’s multiple cover editions, flayed edges, bonus content chapters from entirely different volumes
It’s becoming less and less about the book itself idk
and they didn't use a pre-recorded call to prayer! They hired a real muezzin (a Muslim Uzbek who is credited in the show) to perform and record adzan. Everything about this show is done with love.
This! This is why I can NOT emphasise enough how important is the timing of an anime like #Jaadugar releasing in today's climate. Islamophobia is rampant more than ever that we face it even within fandoms. Jaadugar's gonna educate audiences about Islam our history and cultures.
Hello! I will be doing something a bit special.
For the rest of the month starting tomorrow, I will be posting about every Reverse: 1999 character with a disability to celebrate Disability Pride Month! — 🧵
#Reverse1999
As a Muslim I never would have thought I would hear the adhan in an anime, they also brought up other things about Islam and I'm impressed at how well they portrayed it

As Grey Hill's Graffiti Artist, PRISM leaves traces of themself wherever they go. Vocal and vivid through their murals, the walls are their canvas, and PRISM paints their messages for the world to see.
I write in my upcoming book how true crime has conditioned people to think DNA evidence is IRREFUTABLE. It is NOT. Between lab contamination, cross contamination, partial samples, transfer DNA, and even forensic people LYING or misinterpreting stats at trials, it’s NOT foolproof
my friend lost both their parents just over a year ago. and now the neighborhood they grew up in has been met with historical flooding from a tropical storm. they have lost so much and their sister desperately needs help. please share. please donate.
Everything she says is so important, but I want to highlight the part where she points out the people closest to you needing to hold you accountable. There’s been a shift where someone will do/say something bad & instead of a conversation first, the other person drops them.
I LOVE how she put this. People will absolutely deputize themselves as if they have a license to pursue someone else’s suffering and I truly believe it is the HEIGHT of human hubris.
we choose and show others through our words, actions and choices whether we can be believed, trusted, respected and so on. but in the same breath, we can also choose inadvertently that we can be doubted, untrustworthy, disrespectful and disingenuous.
all we have to do is choose.
thinking about how much our words, actions and choices define us—not only in our best moments but also in our worst and everything in-between—and lately this seems rather forgotten in general.
for example, something i often think about is how we let others interpret our words, actions and choices—it can be in relation to what we gravitate towards down to the crowds we’re drawn to and even the jokes and statements made.
