Join me in donating to restore NYCβs first AAPI woman-owned bookstore. They just suffered a devastating fire and it will take a year to renovate. I love this bookstore and the owner, Lucy Yu, is awesome. Advance thanks for your support. ππ½

Q7: Stay in the present, surrounded by those I love. I do continue to hope and dream for a world where books are not a threat but rather as a place to get lost in the beauty of it. Thank you @MsLiu_in_EDU for being a part of my joy! #NCTEchat
Q6: As I work through honoring and highlighting AAPI voices, one cannot simply forget the works and activism of amazing people such as @GraceLeeBoggs, @AngelaDavis_, Yuri Kochiyama, Akemi Kochiyama, Malcolm X and countless others! @NCTEchat
Q6: As you work to honor and highlight AAPI voices, what are some ways you are also illuminating the work of AAPI activists who work/ed in solidarity across communities of color? #NCTEchat
Q5: I will continue spreading awareness before and after AAPI Heritage Month. AAPI month is in May but this doesn't mean AAPI heritage disappears and loses all support before and after May. There is a continuation of understanding and appreciation of AAPI identities! #NCTEchat
Q5: What actions can you take before and after AAPI Heritage Month to continue your support of the AAPI community in affirming and centering their identities and humanity? #NCTEchat
Q3: Going to @yuandmebooks and reading the books that are in this bookstore has been such an amazing experience when seeking multiple, diverse perspectives from the AAPI community. Poetry, media and music have also been very helpful #NCTEchat @MsLiu_in_EDU @GraceKChoi
Q3: In what ways are you seeking multiple, diverse perspectives from the AAPI community? What texts (books, media, music, podcasts, etc.) have been helpful to you in this aspect? #NCTEchat
Q4: As an East Asian myself, I find that East Asians are definitely over-represented. We tend to forget that there are other Asians such as Indigenous, South and Southeast Asians, and West Asians (Middle Eastern). #NCTEchat
Q4: The AAPI community consists of ~50 distinct ethnic groups speaking over 100 different languages. Take a quick mental inventory of the texts you use that feature AAPI voices and faces. Who is represented? Who might not be represented? Who might be over-represented? #NCTEchat
Q2: As an SW intern last year in a charter school, I explained that I celebrate Lunar New Year as well as centered conversations around AAPI month with students and staff alike as well as emphasized the need for Black and Asian solidarity #NCTEchat @MsLiu_in_EDU @GraceKChoi
Q2: How have you centered the voices of Asian American and Pacific Islander students and colleagues in your educational spaces and/or the content that you teach? #NCTEchat
Q1: I find that when my parents give me cut up fruit as a symbol of love, it is something very meaningful to my Asian identity because even though it is a simple act, it still holds such power in parental love #NCTEchat @MsLiu_in_EDU @GraceKChoi
For me, the biggest are food & names. So much of my identity is wrapped up in what I'm called & what I eat! π€£ In Korean culture, names carry so much meaning & tell a story. I used to be embarrassed by Korean middle name, but now I'm grateful it tells my family's story! #NCTEchat
Q#1: Amanda Wu - I am a hearing impaired, queer, Taiwanese American woman, who is a 2nd year NYU Silver Social Work student and hopes that what I bring to the table inspires others in the future! #NCTEchat
