But the reality is 🗣"if you're not uncomfortable, you're not doing the work" 🗣

[YBR @TheYBR__]

They're only looking for the side of allyship which makes them "feel good"

[YBR @TheYBR__]

Once they experience the discomforting side of racism they retreat back into their privilege.

[YBR @TheYBR__]

A lot of white liberals are progressive only to the point where they are comfortable.

[YBR @TheYBR__]

That they are the "good one trying to help" and therefore cannot be racist.

[YBR @TheYBR__]

Consequently, they develop the mindset they are above their whiteness. That they, unlike like the "racists" do not hold ignorance & bias.

[YBR @TheYBR__]

And that this acknowledgment exonerates them from any white guilt they may harbour.

[YBR @TheYBR__]

They believe their mere acknowledgment of racism is were they're work starts and ends.

[YBR @TheYBR__]

If we're being honest, a lot of white allies are very surface level and self congratulatory with their activism.

[YBR @TheYBR__]

"You can still be who you wish you is, it ain't happen yet and that's what intuition is"
