A weekend of two halves, lightwe winds and sunshine for a longer day journeying from the ciste, Cairngorm and Cise Mhearad for steeper terrain.
Thanks to Dhruv and team for a great weekend!

Last week had Kev delivering the last 2 of our 2 day Winter ML Assessment Preparation workshops. Both workshops had a great mix of snow and weather conditions with steep ground and navigation being the main themes.

Winter Mountain Leader Navigation, fun and games! Serious conditions are the norm up high in the Scottish Mountains in winter and being able to navigate in the ‘great white’ and look after your group takes skill developed from experience and practice.

Winter (ish) conditions on the Eryri hills again. Lot of wet ground and snow so icy conditions during the week when temps drop. #thinkwinter#beadventuresmart@the_AMI
Had a wander down west yesterday, with the hope of getting a route, or two, done. Sadly, the conditions changed, so went to the pub instead.

Day 2 of our Winter ML Assessment prep and the focus was on navigation with some poor visibility nav as well. A delayed certainly paid off missing the worst of the winds.
Good luck with the assessment everyone.

Smiles all round. Out with a top gang today for some winter skills. Nice to get a quick solo up Idwal stream yesterday too - Ice climbing with a 40minute walk in… @the_AMI
We opted for Fiacaill Ridge today with the avalanche forecast. Expecting not to have as much visibility, we were pleased to have the summits clear most of the day. The mountains not very busy at all.

Jonty is out at the moment delivering our first winter skills course of the year. A winter wonderland in the @cairngormsnews at the moment. Thankfully wind has scoured the ridges making for some slightly easier travel.

With wind speeds of 80mph+ forecast for the tops, we decided for an early start and make use of the ciste crag this morning. We had to tuck into the northern side of the crag keeping out of the worst of the gusty winds.

Pleased to see another article I've written for Professional Mountaineer in print, just in time for winter conditions on the hills! #mountaineering#winteriscoming
