If you're already at 1.8, why not put in the extra work to bring it <0.5 in the interest of consumer safety?

@SebAaltonen lack of gcc is the main issue. inb4 use msvc, it might have fancy gui for debugging but imo gdb is still far better, you can even get neovim bindings, lldb is also great.

iirc msvc had some limited support for clang but last i checked it still can't read lldb/gdb symbols

@deedydas just my 2c, but i don't think we're effectively utilising the current models as is, foundational models getting better is good, but imo bringing down inference cost ($/tok) and inference speed up (tok/s) (at the cost of even gpt-3 like quality) would lead to better utilisation
