@bigsnugga The trick is, you don't need to actually count frames, unless you're at high ranks. If you understand light attacks are faster than heavier attacks and know how to block if you keep getting hit, then you're better than 60% of players, and that's good enough to have fun
@Def_Not_Deuce the exact threat of a human naturally having destructive powers will never exist in real life which is why Mutant discrimination is speculative. And even so the stories reflect real world fears against "armed criminals" or "foreign terrorists", but still not exactly 1:1
@Def_Not_Deuce which is exactly why X-men were never a 1:1 racism allegory. However X-men also show that not all mutants are nuclear threats and mutants are humans with feelings and emotions. Dehumanization propoganda is always used to incite fear against all mutants.
@Def_Not_Deuce Thing is X-men were never a 1:1 allegory for racism. They encapsulate various aspects of discrimination (race, disability, queerness, religion, nuerodivergency) But mutant discrimination is an addition to existing discriminations, not a replacement
@Def_Not_Deuce Superficial fantasy racism still isn't exactly 1:1. There's plenty of nuance with real life racism: history, religion, politics. etc. Superficial fantasy racism is still just using one aspect of discrimination to illustrate a point but not fully encapsulating it
@AuthorXoXiee tbf he didn't die by being stuck in the volcano, he was already essentially dead from inhaling too many of the fumes. HIs dragon couldn't save him from that
@qAmzng The video is reacting to Emiru who's at least Diamond in league. League, which is more popular than any fg, is a lot harder to learn. Fgs are as simple to learn as basketball but the skill ceiling is just as high. But you don't need to get to that ceiling to play and have fun
@KarkatSG@2dollarperc Then it's not about combos being hard, learning dive bp is way harder to learn than any combo, dying to bp feels worse than getting tod'd. It's about the 1v1; You don't have a team to carry you when you die or a team to blame when you lose.
@CosmonautMarcus A lot of people are essentially always throwing rock being matched against someone always throwing paper and assume they're getting tod'd by a higher rank
@KarkatSG you can do this with fighting games. The difference is your friends aren't on your team to carry you as your learning. Your friends are your opponents you're trying to beat. You run sets with them, try our specific interactions , watch replays, give advice, and then run it back
@selkie_strange Online players only see the character, the moves, the gimmicks, and the misplays. So beating someone online is equivalent to beating that character/playstyle and can't see who's actually playing. So the trash talk is more against the concept of the player not the actual person
