@TrevorLane Bigger question would be the Spurs go for the W vs Denver to avoid the Nuggets in Rd2 and have either the Lakers/Wolves instead + Nuggets/OKC potentially having a long series.
A win by the Spurs (knowing Lakers are also going to try to win vs Utah) would benefit their bracket
@trevorlane Any update with Kleber? Would be ideal to have him active for about 10-12 games before the playoffs. He is the big that can be a 5 that has a different skillset than Hayes (Koloko/Len/Jemison) and has playoff experience. Can have a realistic matchup based role come playoffs
@playoffjake Mid 80s when I was in primary school and was introduced to 🏀. Peak Lakers-Celtics & I gravitated to Magic & the showtime Lakers. Been a fan ever since, followed every moment of Kobe 🐍 (we are same age) ever since he got drafted. Didn’t like Bron, but hey, he’s purple and gold
@vkillem Goodwin is a great energizer off the bench. A dawg like Vando and DFS. Should be converted and (at this point) take all of Knechts minutes.
Jemison is also another dawg and big bodied enforcer/energy guy who understands his role. Can be a serviceable 3rd big
@MatejSportinfo Ruling (by the refs) was “Kawhi caught the ball in the box (borderline), & Luka didn’t give him enough space”
Usually happens on a break, after a rebound and the outlet pass, not on the finish like this.
Don’t agree with the call. Kawhi had enough space to make a move/dribble
@trevorlane When is the deadline for players to be waived by other teams and be playoff eligible on the buyout market?
Lakers seem to be weighing options (convert Goodwin, Jemison), waive who needs to be waived + sign those buyouts that might come up.
Len? Cam? Shake? Morris?
@TheHerd@colincowherd Its easy to say now he traded a legend Kobe in hindsidght for a ‘scrub’ (Divac). Divac was a legit starter on a playoff team back then. Kobe was an unkown quantity. West took a risk, thats what great GMs do.
And casually omitting MARC GASOL in what Mem got in the Pau trade 🤷🏻♂️
@trevorlane Trevor, what do you make of the Hornets appeal of the nixed trade? What are possible decisions from the league (best case it gets dismissed). Worst case? (Orig trade is a go? Lakers compensate Hornets with picks? Etc.)
@vkillem Fans expecting an all-NBA center who will be playing 35mins dropping 20-15 nightly. Lakers have an abundance of scorers and creators.
Role at center (on the current roster) is someone who will set good screens, rebound, and be a big wide body to defend for 12-15mins/night.
@rManZ@trevorlane He’sa different archetype on O and D than Hayes and Koloko (who are similar). Len is a big bruising type of center and has more playoff and overall experience than both Hayes and Koloko. 10-12minutes of defense and rebounding from Len would be what the team needs in a playoff run
@RajChipalu He will be unplayable in the playoffs. Will be hunted on defense. When the rotation shortens to 8, who will he play over in the rotation? (vanderbilt, DFS?). Luka will already take over Gabe’s mins on the back court, Austin will essentially be SG and backup PG mins.
@Cereal_Chilla @LADEig Salary is pro rated = theres only 2-3 months left in the season, can basically sign anyone willing to come
Players mentioned above or even current players who would want to get bought out wanting a starting gig on a playoff contending team and catch lobs from Lebron and Luka 🤷🏻♂️
@RajChipalu They may have overpaid withthe trafe with teams knowing they were desperate and would overpay for a center. They can do center by committee (Hayes, Wood?) + buyout/FA.
bigs on other teams can also see now an opportunity to get bought out and be a starter for a contender 🤔😉
@EricPincus If lets say the Lakers waive 1-2 players (i.e. Reddish, Wood), and being currently under the 2nd apron by $1.5+ Mil, can they sign someone from the forthcoming buyout market/FA pool (Dwight Howard) with that available pro rated salary?
