An interesting suspected sighting of Nessie was reported on the 5th February 2009 in the Highland News. Ian Monckton and his fiance, Tracy Gordon were celebrating her 30th birthday by staying in a cottage in Invermoriston when, driving back to their digs at 11pm, Ian pulled into a lay-by and turned off the engine. Immediately both became aware of a commotion emanating from the dark waters below. By the light from the cars headlights Ian managed to take a photograph of a shape in the water roughly a few metres from the rocky shoreline. Had the couple disturbed Nessie resting on the rocks causing it to flee back into the water?
