Perspective paper exploring the value of common but underappreciated or disliked plants to pollinating insects with a focus on ivy, dandelion and bramble. Some suggestions are provided on how to reframe societal perceptions towards their ecological value.

New research finds weed species like ragwort and thistles can support a greater volume and variety of pollinators than many flowers recommended for pollinators like red clover and wild marjoram. @SussexUniPress@LasiBee@JAppliedEcology

@AskeBay I bought something that arrived damaged (before xmas!). I arranged return. The item was too big for the Post Office. The seller arranged collection by Parcelforce and received it 2 weeks ago. Still no refund. Status is - case closed as no tracking details. Please help.
@OpCentaur@GoldmanSachs Hi, great photo. Would you mind if I used in an article I am writing about ragwort? You would be credited of course. Cheers, Nick
This is a very bad idea @MandSnews:
- honey #bees are not as important as wild #pollinators such as bumblebees
- honey bees compete with wild pollinators for nectar and pollen
- this plan could negatively affect pollinator biodiversity
- honey bees are not endangered!
Trend for 'tree glue': marketed as environmentally-friendly way to kill moths and ants is terrible. This stuff is horribly dangerous to #bats that get stuck to it. If you want natural pest control, encourage bats! https://t.co/RyLVnPAZNs @TheMontyDon@DaveGoulson
A paper from my PhD was just published in @JEcology where we show rapid evolution of #flowers of Digitalis purpurea in the presence of a new pollinator group, hummingbirds https://t.co/77G23w8MEl @CalaCastellanos
CarniDIET 1.0 was published today! 'But, what is CarniDIET', you ask? Well, we collated quantitative data on the diet compositions of the world's carnivorous mammals using (mainly) peer-reviewed literature and made this open-access for others to use 💩🦁🦊 https://t.co/117QPy2xuE
Almost half of #Scotland’s species have declined in numbers since 1970, & 1 in 9 is at risk of extinction. It doesn’t have to be this way. We are asking #Holyrood 2021 candidates to champion Scotland's nature🌱#NatureChampion https://t.co/rzFfHFCsLS
The call for #nature's recovery #petition has been signed by over 75K people 🥳! But #DYK we need 100K signatures to get a debate on the issue in #Parliament? So what are you waiting for, ask friends, family or followers to sign it NOW 👉 https://t.co/siPbFI61BB #StateofNature
I'm proud to be associated with the newly launched Database of Pollinator Interaction @The_DoPI, hope it proves to be a valuable free resource for scientists, conservationists, & all interested in pollinators & pollination

After a tremendous effort led by Nick Balfour, our Database of Pollinator Interactions @The_DoPI is now live https://t.co/2HrBjQWRn2. Thousands of records on British plant-pollinator interactions in a single location. With @DaveGoulson & support from @britishbee & @EvaCraneTrust
