I can't believe what I just heard at Sunday Mass

In today's homily on World Youth Day, one of the parish priests remarked that he saw Pride flags carried by attendees of the event

"And why not?" he asked, "As Pope Francis said, the Church is for everyone"

I can explain why not

The Pride flag signals agreement with fundamental untruths which have confiscated the fertility, sanity, and lives of many men and women

By affirming the claims of the LGBTQ+ activists, you condemn a cohort of confused and vulnerable children and adults to a shortened life of sterility, health complications, and bodily discomfort

Rates of trans identification rate not increasing organically. In the UK, the number of children being referred to the NHS' Gender Identity Development Service has risen by over 1600 percent since 2010. Referrals increase on average by six percent annually

This is most pronounced among autistic girls. Girls' referrals to GIDS has increased 3176 percent since 2010. Thirty-five percent of all children referred to GIDS presented moderate to severe autistic traits

This is a product of a social contagion known as 'Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria: the latest of many psychological maladies throughout history, which teenage girls are most susceptible to, exacerbated by peer pressure, pubescent bodily discomfort, social media algorithms, and a culture which confers social capital on those in "marginalised" groups

Some of these young adults may have been estranged from their bodies by suffering sexual abuse and grooming. (I know of a case myself.) Trans affirmation gives cover to predators by blaming gender dysphoria as the sole reason why these children desire to escape their bodies

It also fails to scrutinise the projection of mental health issues by mothers onto their children. In one study predating the increase of trans identification in children in the last decade, they found that fifty-three percent of mothers of boys with gender identity disorders had been diagnosed with depression or BPD, compared to just six percent of the control group

Nearly 30 per cent of transgender patients, in a study of 1000, were found to have desisted when followed up after four years. One study in Sweden found that adults who transitioned prior to the 2010-onward increase in trans identification regretted it at a rate of 2.2 percent. That means thousands of people who can never undo the changes inflicted upon them by the false promises of the Pride movement

The largest longitudinal study on adolescent gender dysphoria in the Netherlands saw a fifty percent desistance rate. Eleven other longer-term studies demonstrate desistance rates of between sixty and ninety percent -- with an average of eighty percent, adjusted for symptom severity -- if no "affirmative" interventions are taken

This is why the damning Cass Report, leading to the decentralisation of the Tavistock Clinic, called for a "Watch and Wait" protocol of non-affirmation concerning child gender dysphoria

Of those who do transition: one study of a hundred participants found that, long-term, one in ten died and one in three experienced somatic morbidity

A recent study of transgender people in Denmark found that transgender people had 7.7 times the rate of suicide attempts and 3.5 times the rate of suicide deaths than men and women who accept their sex. The country's per capita suicide rate is comparable to the US: meaning the epicentre of trans-affirming medicine is likely to have a similar fatality rate

The famous 2011 Swedish study showed suicide rate for adults who medically transition at twenty times that of the typical adult

This is because, as one study in the American Journal of Psychiatry showed, 61 percent of patients suffering gender dysphoria have at least one other psychiatric disorder

Affirmation of the idea that you can change sex, as the Pride flag proposes, leads children ineluctably to take puberty-blocking drugs

This has been predicated on the Dutch Protocol: a study of seventy adolescents which presumed a reduction in suicidality via the efficacy of Triptorelin (produced by Ferring Pharmaceuticals, the company funding the study) in suppressing puberty in gender-dysphoric adolescents. One participant was removed from the data set because the penile shrinkage caused by puberty blockers caused complications during the surgical creation of a fake vaginal canal. Colon tissue was used instead, leading to blood poisoning and fatal necrotizing fasciitis. The poor boy died at eighteen

Puberty blockers impair genital, bone, and brain development. One study from within Tavistock found that puberty blockers increased the suicidal ideation and self-harm rates of dysphoric children. Theoretically, they should also prohibit children from later taking cross-sex hormones: because they are not at the typical cognitive level of their peers after a course of puberty blockers, and thus unable to consent to interventions intended for adults

And yet, in one study from 2011, all seventy children who initiated puberty suppression went on to take cross-sex hormones. In a study by GIDS IN 2021, 43 of 44 children who received puberty blockers went onto take cross-sex hormones

Social affirmation, signifed by the Pride flag, is an inexorable path to medical, chemical, and surgical augmentation, resulting in worsening mental health, conditions like osteoporosis and cancer, sterility and ceasing sexual function, and high rates of suicide

On a purely scientific and secular level, the Pride flag and the ideology of the LGBTQ+ constituency who fly it promulgates untruths which prove fatal to the most vulnerable among us

For Catholics, transgender ideology is also anathema to scripture. It is akin to a Gnostic heresy

Gender ideology asserts that one's internal being is gendered incompatibly with the physical body. It implies that God made an error when creating them, and that the Bible is erroneous when stating, in Genesis 1:27, that 'God created mankind in his image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them.'

One need not be persuaded by Catholic social teaching or scripture to stand against the harms perpetrated by Pride. But to stand at the pulpit and preach a Promethean doctrine of self-recreation violates the assertion that our bodies are made Imago Dei, and thus not wholly our own to defile

It is not "inclusive" to fly a Pride flag at a church, at World Youth Day, or at any other occasion. It is blasphemous. It leads one's flock astray, by commanding they turn a blind eye to the harm done to the little ones. Christ did not take too kindly to those who do such a thing

Both those of the faith and those unconvinced can only spare children and adults susceptible to being spellbound by the fruitless promises of trans activism by insisting on living as an embodied person

We are our constraints. We are inextricable from our sexed bodies. They have great potential to make us happy, give us families, and be put to use in the service of those who most need it

If the church, any priest, or anyone in public life preaches otherwise, they are doing the work of something which seeks to rob us of all those joys of life
