For many Nigerians, the moment a salary enters their account, it already has several owners:

✑ Parents
✑ Siblings
✑ Medical bills
✑ School fees
✑ Family emergencies
✑ Community obligations

What many people call "black tax" is one of the biggest vet least-discussed forces shaping wealth creation across Africa.

Interestingly, black tax is often rooted in love, duty and gratitude, and compounded by weak social systems. It is not necessarily the result of irresponsibility.

But there is another side that we do not discuss enough.

Black tax shapes career decisions. It delays investing, postpones marriage and reduces people's willingness to take risks. It creates invisible financial pressure that never appears on a bank statement.

In this edition of Simplified, we tried to answer a difficult question: "How do you support your family without sacrificing your own financial future?"

One of my favourite ideas from the report is what we call the Black Tax Ratio., It is a simple way to measure how much of your income is already committed before you begin funding your own life.

Sometimes, what people describe as "poor saving habits" is simply a heavy family responsibility that has never been measured.

The goal of this report is not to ell people to stop supporting their families. It is to help them give in a way that is planned, sustainable and honest.

As Christians, we are not scratching the surface of what God told us.

Exodus 31:1–5 God gives creative skill

God tells Moses that He has filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God:

“In wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship.”

Then God specifically mentions his ability to design, work with gold, silver, brass, stones, and wood, and to work in craftsmanship.
That's remarkable.

The Holy Spirit's involvement isn't described only in terms of preaching or prophecy. God empowers someone with design ability, craftsmanship, intelligence, and technical skill.

One more thing I learnt from this scripture is that even though we are all blessed with wisdom & knowledge, they are a few people who have it more that others and these were the people God asked Moses to look for and build his ark.

In the past, i often wondered why a few people are geniuses while the rest of us are at best average. This scripture answered that question.

Since I got that revelation, whenever I'm about to face something new or difficult I ask God to filled me with his wisdom, knowledge & craftsmanship.
