God now most of fanfics irritate me too, where Rozanov gotta play with Hollander’s emotion and act indifferent, while Shane just let him because he doesn’t know any other men and thought this is the way.
I said it. I said it from the beginning. She is not that good of a writer. Mediocre at the best when comes to character building and writing skill wise. It’s the directing and the casts that really give this story a lift and makes it what it is today. Now we got the proof.
@Huddy304 I only liked him because Shane is made to love him. If anything HE is the exhausting one. If this was not a romance fic but in rl I’ll tell whoever in Shane’s position to run as fast as they could.
I don’t even think the “making Shane the best” part was intentional. I think she wrote a character that she believes to be “very pretty and good at hockey but lack of charisma and exhausting” but later got surprised how Hudson had turned the table. THEN she got mad.
rachel reid treats shane like how a lot of straight romance authors treat their FMC. she thinks he's annoying, stupid, replaceable & he should only focus on his boyfriend & nothing else. i have a feeling that she only made shane the best bc she thinks ilya deserves the best
End the bloody book tour before she turns Ilya into a more toxic partner (maybe too late already I mean I like him mostly because Shane loves him but now we are in the “run girl run” zone).
i’m sorry but this is not my ilya. this isn’t an ilya that belongs in ANY romance. she has done her best to not only disregard and disrespect her character of colour, but is also actually making ilya a detestable person even while he’s her fave. just lost.
@Hermade_sait She doesn't even realise she's made ilya a major red flag when it comes to a partner, threatening to cheat, jealousy over a shane even talking to a man, like, she made shane a doormat and it pisses me off
interviewer : so can u tell us more about shane's struggles with his identity as a gay asian man in a predominantly straight white sport?
rachel : that is a very nice question, so ilya-
