In a refreshingly unfiltered interview with British Vogue, Lily Allen opens up about life, motherhood, and what it really means to be a woman in the public eye.
She doesn’t hold back, admitting, “I often talk about how fucking hard it is to be a mum.” She continues, “People come to me and say, ‘Imagine your children reading this.’ And it’s like, yes, I want them to know that so that they don’t do the same thing! You know? I felt totally gaslit by my mum about motherhood.”
Her honesty extends to the toll fame has taken on her mental health: “When I was 19, I would wake up and there would be 20 guys on my doorstep with long lens cameras and they would follow me all day long."
Even after nearly 20 years in the spotlight, Allen says she’s still learning to navigate the scrutiny of public life. “Every time I walk into a room, I feel like I have to overcompensate to prove that I’m not that person that they read about and that is exhausting.”
Through her music, podcast, and approach to life, Allen is on a mission to show that honesty is power, not weakness. “I want to feel like it’s OK to feel the things that I’m feeling and to be angry about the things that I’m angry about. I want someone to go, ‘Yeah, that is fucking confusing!’”
💛 Thank you, Lily, for reminding us that motherhood, womanhood, and survival don’t have to look perfect, just real.
"That is such a source of comfort, just to be heard by another woman without judgment... with just love."

👏 We love to see this kind of allyship. Dylan Sprouse has spoken out about endometriosis awareness, sharing his support for his wife, Barbara Palvin, and others living with the condition.
After seeing Barbara go through endometriosis surgery earlier this year, Dylan praised her for being “incredibly tough” and wore a yellow endometriosis awareness pin in her honour at the 2025 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Speaking to E! News, he said, “She was so strong to go through that herself… A ton of women who had experienced the same things reached out to her, and I just don’t think there’s a lot of awareness about it.”
Thank you, Dylan for helping to break down stigma and continue important conversations around women’s health.
Here’s to more compassion, understanding, and people using their platforms to make a difference 💛
TW: baby loss
This #MiscarriageAwarenessDay, we're spotlighting a major UK study led by Tommy's, the pregnancy and baby charity, which has identified a hidden cause of some miscarriages: an abnormal process in the womb lining.
The researchers analysed biopsies from over 1,300 women and birthing people and found that in some cases, the womb lining doesn’t develop as it should, which can lead to miscarriage.
Importantly, this research also explains why miscarriage can sometimes recur, providing a biological reason rather than attributing loss to “bad luck.”
Dr Joanne Muter, the lead researcher, said: “Many women and birthing people are told they’ve just had ‘bad luck’, but our findings show that the womb itself may be setting the stage for pregnancy loss, even before conception takes place.”
This research has also led to the development of a diagnostic test (dEFT), which measures the molecular signals of a healthy or dysfunctional womb lining. The test is currently being piloted at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire and has already supported the care of over 1,000 patients, opening the door to treatments that could prevent future pregnancy losses.
No one should face miscarriage without answers, and this study is a step toward better understanding, better care, and more support.

A new statue has been unveiled in London, and it’s rewriting what it means to be seen as a mother.
Standing tall outside the iconic Lindo Wing, Mother Vérité depicts a woman in the raw moments after giving birth - tender, strong, and unapologetically real. No filters. No perfect poses. Just truth.
Fewer than 4% of London statues represent women and, until now, none honour postpartum.
Created by artist Rayvenn Shaleigha D’Clark and commissioned by @hellofridamom founder and CEO Chelsea Hirschhorn, the piece challenges how society portrays motherhood - often polished, rarely honest. It celebrates the bodies, emotions, and resilience that too often go unseen. "If statues in our society are meant to honour our heroes, mothers are the tulimate heroine," Chelsea says.
Because every mother deserves to be recognised, not just for bringing life into the world, but for the strength it takes to rebuild her own 💛
Which other unsung female heroes would you like to see immortalised in statue form? 💭
