The Liberal Party of Canada, under the leadership of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, implemented the federal carbon tax in Canada. This policy was enacted through the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act (GHGPPA), which passed in 2018 and came into effect in 2019.
