VISUAL HOLE
album no. 9 from THE BIG HOUSE
when phenomena that cannot be visually processed enter the visual field, they are experienced in other ways (often as sound)
so when we were looking at these things, this is what we heard

@whatKCthought Yes, and Roberts canโt stop unconsciously imputing this image of a woman whose kidnapping he witnessed, which starts to irk Lee cuz itโs ruining the comic-product lol
Itโs so funny to me one of the daft punk guys played his first US show in 10 years at a venue thatโs literally a 10 min from my house, and it made absolutely no waves whatsoever.
Kinda creepy how the indie scene lost Doug Shaw (of โhipster musicโ pioneers Gang Gang Dance) this past week, and all this website wants to talk about this week is everyoneโs ideologically distorted definition of โhipster musicโโ the culture is literally withering before our eyes
@cyanidetooth He lived in the same building as one of my good friends, so Iโd always catch up with him from time to time. Watched the 4th of July fireworks from the rooftop of that building with him and my buddy this past year, which was super chill. Feels surreal that heโs gone.
@whatKCthought@Voorishguy Recently found this 3-part series on her that was mildly entertaining. Most interesting (and maybe least shocking) tidbit is that she is a failed cybergoth / rivethead from the Bay Area lmfao

@AltCulture outsider art and similar labels implicitly invoke the idea of an art world that an artist is supposed to be inside or outside of
this wrongly centers auction houses, galleries, museums, and their clientele
the only real art world is the one defined by the artist's creativity
@Voorishguy Honestly I need to give them a proper listen to give you my take โ I checked them out in hs around when I found Soft Boys and just remember SBs stuff hitting more at the time, but I remember digging some of the grooves and the production. Will circle back on this after more rsrch
