I went to the hoover dam this past Friday, and frankly it was the most magnificent thing I have ever seen. I especially feel connected to it, because of the spirit about it (Mankind mastering nature for the common good) and because my great-great grandfather was an engineer, who worked on the project
I am going to be AFK on all my social media (X, Truth, etc) for probably about the next week. Not that anybody cares but in case anybody is curious. I'll be back in about a week
"Sir, we have intelligence reports that underground white nationalist groups are operating on Canadian soil."
"This is gravely concerning. What are they doing? Assaulting minorities? Vandalizing immigrant-run businesses? Plotting paramilitary operations against the Canadian government?"
"Well no."
"What then?"
"The tactics vary between groups. Second Sons likes to do banner drops from freeway overpasses. Dominion Society mostly puts up a lot of posters."
"With open calls for targeted violence?"
"Not exactly."
"Racial slurs?"
"No, they're very careful to avoid anything like that."
"So what do these banners and posters say?"
"Second Sons is the most rhetorically provocative. Their banners say things like "CBC hates white people", or "Got bones?", which is code for residential school denialism."
"Am I to understand that they publicly imply that the lived experience and oral history of Aboriginal Canadians is less than sufficient evidence for genocide?"
"Their accompanying social media posts make that interpretation unavoidable, sir."
"That's practically a hate crime! What about these posters from the Dominion Group?"
"Dominion Society, sir. Most of them just promote the Dominion Society itself, sir. However, others contain patriotic messaging."
"That's outrageous!"
"I know, sir. It gets worse. Some of them promote 'remigration', which is code for sending immigrants back to their home countries."
"They want to REVERSE immigration?"
"It's their explicit political goal, sir."
"Using violence, I assume?"
"Well, not exactly, sir. Their public literature indicates that they favour a suite of policies involving financial incentives, restrictions on public aid to asylum seekers, enforcement of existing immigration laws and deportation of visa overstays, strict reductions in temporary foreign worker and student visas, and intensified immigration fraud investigation."
"I've heard enough. Monstrous. Truly monstrous. This is practically terrorism!"
I live nearer to Dallas and I like Dallas, but honestly I would probably live in Fort Worth first. Cheaper, higher trust, and better culture, while still having many of the things Dallas has. It would be a hard decision though. I also like OKC but I haven't spent a ton of time there, and I've been to Tulsa many times, and the city legit rolls up the sidewalks. It's crazy, after 11 quiktrip is pretty much the only thing open
In a way, this is actually profound, because bananas and rice don't go together at all, likewise to be somali and American doesn't go together at all. Completely incoherant
