@AOC I think sex work is cool because it has a tendency, more than other professions, to lead to exploitation, physical abuse, and emotional abuse, which are also really cool and empowering for women.
@Procrastamom @PeteButtigieg I wonder if people 5 centuries from now will look back at you and your silly tweets and say to themselves, while shaking their heads, "My, how stupid people were!" ๐คท
@tvoell@PeteButtigieg I wonder if people 5 centuries from now will look back at you and your silly tweets and say to themselves, while shaking their heads, "My, how stupid people were!" ๐คท
@ManieBala@PeteButtigieg First off, "as long as it doesn't hurt yourself or others" is more 18th Century Enlightenment/classical liberal thinking, not "progressive" thinking. And if you really believed that, you wouldn't support abortion, drug legalization, prostitution, or taxation.
@memeguider@AikidoBender@PeteButtigieg You seem to have done a fine job using twitter to drone on and on. Not sure why Buttigieg can't do the same. Probably bc he knows his dullard followers lack critical thinking skills and would just like his trite tweet and move on.
@memeguider@AikidoBender@PeteButtigieg No, I didn't. You seem slow. I referenced prior human practice as a means of stating that, in light of the long history of that practice, Buttigieg must do more than just state it's "always wrong."
@memeguider@AikidoBender@PeteButtigieg Actually, it's not. But I never made that argument anyway. Although there is something to be said for, and appropriate weight should be given to, prior human practice.
@AikidoBender@memeguider I did not appeal to tradition fallacy. I never even took a position on the merits of the death penalty. I merely pointed out @PeteButtigieg's circular logic, which is itself a fallacy. The death penalty is not "always wrong" just bc Buttigieg says it is.
@JFrend0@PeteButtigieg And it's not "just because we've done it forever," although there is a reason diverse human civilizations have done it for so long. Perhaps the fact that it has existed for so long suggests humans have generally found some benefit to it.
@britton773@PeteButtigieg Yes, there is. There is a lot of weight to be given to thousands of years of collective human wisdom and experience. The death penalty wasn't enacted last year. And you are not wiser or smarter just because you're alive in 2020.
@ochukodavis @Procrastamom @PeteButtigieg You understand the Hebrew commandments better than ancient Hebrews did? Why am I not surprised? You clearly think you're smarter than everyone that existed before you.
@ochukodavis @Procrastamom @PeteButtigieg Stop trying to be clever. You're not. Thou shall not kill relates to INNOCENT life. Hence, the widespread Hebrew practice of putting people to death for crimes, despite the 6th Commandment.
@woodworth_john@Alyssa_Everett@PeteButtigieg Well, does a person consent to forfeiting their liberty or property when they commit a crime? Certainly you don't oppose jail or fines, do you? If a person can knowingly forfeit their liberty or property by committing a crime, why not their lives?
