2025 was an amazing year I failed, I learnt. I found friends who’d go back and forth for me and I lost friends who’d our ideas no longer matched. Happy new year, may 3026 be An even better year, More wins, And may Nigeria be great.
Happy New year from my baby and I
Alex Ekubo is gone. And there is nothing left to do. No prayer can bring him back. No tribute can return him. No amount of tears, no amount of posts, no amount of wishing things were different. He is gone. And the only thing that remains, is the life you are still living right now while you are reading this.
So let me ask you directly.
When it is your turn, what will people say about you?
Look at what just happened with Alex Ekubo. Look at how an entire nation responded to one man's passing. Look at how his colleagues spoke about him, not one person, not one single person in that industry, came out with anything bad to say. And these are not people performing for cameras. There is evidence. There are years of receipts. There are stories, relationships, moments that confirmed everything everyone said about him.
A governor ordered a road constructed to his village just because of his burial. 😭
A road. For one man. Because of the kind of person he was.
That is legacy. And legacy is built quietly, daily, in how you treat people when nobody is watching, in how you show up when it costs you something, in how you love without keeping score.
I started watching Alex from AY Cribs. And I loved everything about him. The way he carried himself. The way he loved his culture unapologetically. The warmth that came through every single time he appeared on screen or in an interview. You could not fake that. What you saw was what he was.
And sometimes I wonder, did he know? 😭
Because when I go back and watch some of his videos now, the way he spoke, the way he lived, the way he embraced every moment, it feels like a man who understood that time was not guaranteed. Like someone who chose to live fully because he somehow knew that fully was all he had.
We are all praying for long life. And that is good. But trust me, you do not know when. None of us do. And the gap between today and that day is not as wide as we tell ourselves when we are busy chasing things that will not follow us out of here.
The cars will stay. The money will stay. The houses will stay. The fame will fade before the body is even cold. Everything you worked so hard to accumulate, your most valuable possessions, will be left behind the moment death knocks. You will leave with nothing you earned and take only what you were.
So who are you?
Are you the kind of person that when you leave, fifty people will genuinely have something good to say? Not performed goodness. Not eulogy goodness. Real, lived, evidenced goodness that people can point to and say, I have proof. He was this. She was this. I know because I was there.
Live a good life. Be at peace with people. Settle what needs to be settled. Forgive what needs to be forgiven. Love loudly and serve genuinely.
And above everything else, be at peace with God. Because it is more honorable to die in Christ, to leave this earth with your soul at rest, than to conquer the whole world and arrive at the end with nothing that truly matters.
Alex Ekubo will never be forgotten. Not by this industry. Not by the people who loved him. Not by those of us who watched and saw a young man full of life, full of culture, full of something rare and irreplaceable.
May God comfort your wife Anwuli, your dear friends Ik and Yumi, your siblings, your family, and an entire industry that is grieving tonight in a way it has not grieved in a long time. 💔
Rest well. You lived well. And that is more than most of us will be able to say. 🙏🏾
Good night Alex. Please Say hello to my beloved Dadd. The End. 🕊️ 😭

IK Ogbonna has proven to be that friend that stays in both life and death. He was the one that collected Alex's body from the mortuary and took it home to Arochukwu.
I don't want to imagine what went through his mind during the journey.
Imagine talking and calling your once bubbly and energetic friend, and he won't answer. Like you will hail him and call him all those funny names you call each other, and all you will hear is silence.
Watching someone's loved ones go through the pain of mourning is the hardest thing I have ever witnessed.
The pain never leaves their heart; it is always everlasting.
Onwu diwe!!!💔
Rest in peace, Alex.
This is not the life you planned , but God knows the best for you..💔
Dear Lionel Messi, I apologise for ever debating whether you were the greatest of all time. To my mind, your competition was never Cristiano Ronaldo. I was thinking more about Diego Maradona and Pele. I now realise that you are better than both of them. You are better than anyone who has ever kicked a football. I am lucky to have been alive to watch you play. You are the greatest of all time! I bow and tremble. 🙌🏽🙇♂️

Posting this so no other tourist falls victim to this scammer.
This is a popular beach guy called Ibrahim also popularly called Ability by the locals and other beach boys.
Ibrahim is a scammer. He and his crew look for unsuspecting tourists and trick them into paying him for activities or tours. His MO is to pretend like he’s negotiating the best deal with you, offer you a fake receipt and then run away with your money. He stops picking calls, blocks you and anyone else he may have linked you with (usually drivers he connects you with) and will not unblock them until he’s sure you’ve left the country.
They have a whole ring. I’ll post a video with more details on how they operate but avoid them. I heard they even scammed a particular tourist of up to $3,000… the local police won’t help you either.
AVOID THE BEACH BOYS and avoid Ibrahim especially. Repost! You might be saving someone.
I’m going to write a quick thread on Satpaev.
I’ve been tracking since we signed.
Stats, information, my opinions and some records he’s broken.
Give me ten minutes.
