A major scandal is brewing in the North East that demands national attention, as it carries serious national-security implications.

According to the Assam Police SIT, as stated publicly by the Assam CM, multiple “red flags” have emerged involving a Pakistani national, Ali Tauqeer Sheikh, and the family of the Congress MP from Jorhat, Gaurav Gogoi.

1. The SIT alleges that Elizabeth Gogoi, wife of Gaurav Gogoi and a British citizen, was employed through a Pakistan-linked firm and that her salary was routed from Pakistan via Ali Tauqeer Sheikh even while she worked in India, with her Indian supervisor having no control over her pay.

2. The probe claims Ali Tauqeer Sheikh visited India repeatedly, around 13–18 times between 2010 and 2013, and that Elizabeth travelled to Pakistan multiple times while linked to the firm.

3. The SIT flagged at least one instance of money being transferred from a Pakistani bank to Elizabeth’s account and then immediately forwarded to an Indian account, raising questions about the purpose and timing.

4. The CM stated that after the probe began, Ali Tauqeer Sheikh deleted his social-media posts, which the SIT views as an attempt to erase evidence.

If even part of the SIT’s findings are true, they suggest foreign influence, funding, and information-gathering linked to a Pakistani national involving the family of a sitting MP. The Assam cabinet has therefore referred the SIT report to the HMO for a centre-level investigation.

DRDO has successfully conducted a high-speed rocket-sled test of a fighter escape system. Simply put, India is moving toward building its own ejection seat, and this test is a major step.

Why make our own? Lower cost, strategic independence, no foreign delays or restrictions, full customisation for our jets and pilots, export potential, and jobs.

DRDO clearly has immense capability. What it needs is sustained investment. Its annual budget is barely half of the Ladli Behna scheme of just one state.
