@Morphologis @rodemics The firmware on most devices are also responsible for updating itself as one of its functions. This explains why corrupted firmware results in what is called a "bricked device". I really hope it is not the case with your mic!

@rstarcitizen This implies that a signed file is safe. It's not - literally anybody can sign files. Checking for signing doesn't even help a little bit. This kind of advise just leads people to a false sense of security.

Sadly knowing whether something is harmful is so much harder than this.
