@Thomas___Sowell Oh don’t you get all haughty on me Thomas. You built a career defending capitalism after it became dominant. I explained its contradictions before they unfolded. Kapital was the autopsy of a dead system. How come every crisis keeps finding my diagnosis.

At some point you have to ask the logical conclusion of whether the system itself produces these outcomes.

In competitive markets, firms that chase higher returns gain the advantage and by de facto the entire industry follows.
You are missing the fact that these incentives ONLY exist due to the structural problem that is CAPITALISM.
