@Canonandcreed Is really going to make me pay $9.99 a month 😭 I’ve never paid for a YouTube subscription before, but if there’s one channel that i genuinely believe is worth it, it’s that one. The content is just that good!
Nicodemus had been a covenant child, had been marked by the covenant sign of his day, had been living a moral life, had been a vigorous student and teacher of God's Word, yet Jesus had the nerve to tell him, ye must be born again!
I've been calling hyper-cessationism a type of functional deism, which I still think is accurate. But a better, though less known descriptor would be functional Socinianism, since the Socinians, unlike the deists, still claimed to be Christians. God forbid such a pernicious doctrine makes a comeback under the guise of cessationism. It's not a 1-1, but I would say it's in the ballpark.
Recently, Eastern Orthodox priest Peter Heers raised some objections for Protestants in a video titled “The Failures of Protestantism.”
And as I listened—I rolled my eyes so many times I nearly pulled a retina. However, I was reminded that it’s important to take these sorts of claims seriously because, without being able to see the underlying assumptions and how the claims miss the real issues, it’s understandable why they might sound compelling to someone.
But tonight on my show, I’ll make my case for why they aren’t—as well as a returning challenge to all One True Churchers. Join me! 7:30pm CST. Link below!
Here is Jay Dyer, who now suddenly calls me a "Christian Zionist heretic", agreeing that my support of the Nation of Israel is NOT religiously contradictory or problematic.
He even agrees that Israel has the right to exist and defend itself.
This was last year.
What happened?
“But where was your church before 1517, bro? Who gave you the Bible, bro? Think about it! Like, where’s your normative authority, bro? 40,000 denominations, bro!?! Just read Ignatius, bro! The early Church was literally Orthodox, bro! The FILIOQUE, bro?! Come on—it’s PAPAL, bro! HONEST! And penal substitution, bro?! That’s cosmic child abuse, bro! The Father didn’t punish Jesus, bro, He defeated death! It divides the TRINITY, bro!!! I even smelled incense and everything, bro! I watched this four-hour video by this guy Jay Dyer, and I just know it’s right, bro. I wouldn’t lie to you! NEVER. EVER. BRO! Please get on the Ark, bro!”

Dispensationalism is more than just an eschatology thing; it reinvents how the entire Bible is to be understood. It introduces a fundamentally different hermeneutic that reshapes the relationship between the Old and New Testaments, Israel and the church, and the covenants themselves. That is why its effects extend far beyond debates about the millennium or the timing of Christ's return. Thankfully, many dispensationalists call themselves "leaky," whatever that means, but even then, the more problematic aspects of dispensationalism are retained.
I think dispys are brothers, just way off. Saying as much has always been a violation of the 11th commandment among evangelicals, but the sooner their aberrant views are dealt with and hopefully jettisoned, the healthier the American Church will be. Hence the need to hash it out in a respectful, even if at times vigorous, way.
John MacArthur is not above criticism. He was a good man, full of the right stuff, we could use a hundred more of him, but his dispensationalism was a tremendous problem. Are we not allowed to say as much?
“The Scripture being about the redemptive work of Christ on our behalf is depressing”
said no Christian ever….
Kingdoms fall, the preeminence of Christ over all things is everlasting
