Last weekend I was privileged to represent @Zcash at the @Web3LagosCon as a Gold Sponsor where we I had conversations with builders on the importance of privacy and with regulator on how privacy and compliance can coexist and how Zcash is fostering an environment for human sovereignty
I was glad to be able to help regulators and builders understand the balance between privacy and compliance
A great appreciation to @ZcashCommGrants for the sponsorship, @ZecHub and other zcash contributors for their presence and support

If your Zcash wallet uses NEAR Intents, each swap you make adds your shielded address to a public ledger. A quantum computer could use this to link all your payments that share the same key.
In Vizor, each swap will get its own key to prevent this.

Introducing Ongoing Test: A new section on openzcash to help builders connect with testers and make testing guides, community tools, and incentive programs easier to discover.

500 ZEC allocated. 50 ZEC distributed across two rounds, leaving 450 ZEC from the original allocation, based on published payout reports. Rewards follow each round’s rules. Help shape the next layer of Zcash.
Building something that needs testers? We welcome more projects and community testing initiatives.
Here's everything Zcash wallet implementers need to know for NU7:
- The biggest thing is that v4 transactions will be disallowed, which deprecates the Sprout shielded pool. If your wallet still uses them at all: be advised.
- Block times are speeding up to 25s per block. You shouldn't need to worry about this, as any concerns from that change will be mitigated by the full nodes and indexers.
- The 60% removal of fees from issuance is shipping as part of the Network Sustainability Mechanism (NSM). You do NOT need to do this manually as, similarly, the full node consensus layers take care of this for you.
- Due to increased chain activity and anticipated further increases, we STRONGLY recommend you implement the following fees features:
1) Switch to using the `getstandardfee` RPC call to get the marginal fee. There has been some drift between Zakura and Zebra when it comes to fees, and this will ensure that you don't need to pay attention to any of this nor update constants. Now is the time to do this.
2) Implement a option to pay more for inclusion. We recommend 10x the standard fee you receive from `getstandardfee`

Join us in Cancún for Zcon7, just before Halloween and Día de los Muertos. The transactions are private. The conversations are lively.

💡Fact of the Week
Did you know? Zcash was first integrated into Brave Wallet in March 2024. Initially supporting transparent ZEC transactions, Brave Wallet expanded to shielded transactions in April 2025, allowing users to send and receive private ZEC directly through the browser’s built-in wallet.
