Help a 103-Year-Old Grandmother Save Her Home of 37 Years
Mamie Hansberry owns a small two-unit duplex where she has lived all these years. The only other unit in the building is occupied by a tenant who has refused to pay rent for years, taken over part of her property, and refuses to recognize her as the landlord. The situation has left her feeling intimidated, overwhelmed and unsafe in the home she worked her entire life to keep. Mamie Hansberry is the sister of the award winning playwright Lorraine Hansberry.
Mamie has tried to get help. Sadly, different lawyers and eviction services have taken her money, but once the tenant requested a jury trial they required tens of thousands of dollars more to continue, leaving Mamie with no legal representation.
She survives on a small fixed income while bills continue to mount and the tenant is receiving publicly funded legal aid. A jury trial dramatically increases the cost of the case and makes it nearly impossible for Mamie to continue the legal fight on her own. There is no legal aid available for landlords. Funds raised will go toward:
• Legal representation required to represent her at the trial
• Complete the eviction process
• Court filing fees and trial preparation
• The significant legal costs associated with a jury trial
• Costs related to enforcing the eviction order if it occurs
• Bills that have piled up after years of unpaid rent https://t.co/P56jivNDmf
REMEMBERING MARTYRS: On March 21, 2007, Christianah Oluwatoyin Olusase was brutally murdered by her students when she was falsely accused of touching the Quran. Students swarmed Christianah and beat her to death. Pray for believers in Northern Nigeria.

I find it weird how some people try to make a joke of the older players in the #NBA. Steph, Bron, Durant...those guys are friggin' amazing in my book more so than the ones younger than they are. They're in the same league, at the same time, doing it, IN SPITE OF their age.
@NigeriaStories This hits different 😭. True love isn’t about location or convenience, it’s about commitment, patience, and choosing each other every day. 54 years together is proof that real love really does exist. ❤️🇳🇬
This is all that's left of Tarfusa's home in Plateau State, Nigeria. 💔 Pray for her and countless others who've lost everything: https://t.co/tdR5xPk7QH
