Today, we had a joyous Easter Service at St. Francis Chapel, Makerere University, where the Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Lydia Nsaale Kitayimbwa delivered a powerful and uplifting sermon on 'The Resurrection: The hope that transforms everything', from Matthew 28:1, 1 Corinthians 15:1, and Romans 6:4–11.
Her reflections were deeply enriching, particularly her thoughtful emphasis on justification and the significant role of women in ministry, drawing comparisons between the teachings of Paul and the Gospel according to Matthew.
The Vice Chancellor of Makerere University, Prof @ProfNawangwe delivered a thought-provoking message, noting that the strong spiritual foundation nurtured by @stfrancis_mak Chapel has contributed significantly to the end of strikes at the University.
He said, “what used to be striking groups within @Makerere have been replaced by prayer groups.”
This transformation is indeed evident. St. Francis Chapel has intentionally invested in outreach to students in halls of residence and hostels, promoting peace and encouraging focus on their academic and personal growth.
@Rev_Dr_LidyKitz with her Chapel team and the University's office of the Dean of Students led by my brother Dr. @rodneyrugyema organized evening sessions of prayer in all halls of residence and ended with a grand evening of praise and worship on Good Friday at Impiss Rugby Grounds with @Archbp_COU preaching on 'discovering your purpose.' Hundreds gave their lives to Jesus Christ.
Today, Makerere University is a more peaceful institution, and its gallant alumni take great pride in this positive environment.
Easter reminds us that no matter how dark the moment, new life and new beginnings are always possible. 🌿
The cross was not the end — it was the beginning of victory, hope and eternal life. ✝️
