Chris Brown wasn’t settling for a regular record deal.
During an appearance on R&B Money, Breezy revealed that he studied Birdman’s business arrangement with Universal and decided he wanted similar treatment from his own label.
Instead of collecting traditional advances and artist royalties, Chris demanded an equal share of the profits:
“I want to be fifty to fifty profits shared with you guys, like Birdman does with Universal”.
According to CB, the label agreed, and he later also got ownership of his masters.
Birdman’s business moves really shaped the career of the biggest R&B star in the planet like that.
