He first needs to fix his positioning when defending and anticipating passes from the opponent. I saw last game Xavi depart do it to perfection and in this flick system it’s very important. What Balde does he usually tucks in with the central defenders and think that because of his pace he will catch up with anyone. But sometimes you come across people who are faster and more intelligent than you like Hakimi did in our champions league game last season against PSG. He needs to improve on that defensively and offensively he needs to learn how to quickly read situations when attacking. Not every actions should involve you crossing the ball sometimes you need to fake and dribble like what Cancelo does for example. He needs to learn and improve quickly or else he’s going to lose his place like Flick just mentioned.

What Balde needs to improve on:
1. Cross the ball for teammates or in dangerous areas.
2. Stop tucking in the midfield and leave the winger or fullback wide open thinking that because he has speed he will catch up with them at any time. He did so many times last year most noticeably against a diminished PSG in the UCL when he left Hakimi wide open to make the cross for Ramos to score on us and humiliate us.
3. He needs to improve his dribbling skills overall and his defensive awareness and physicality very much.

If he did these things he will be on the same level as guys like Nuno Mendes. But it’s easier said than done. So for me we should just sell him if there’s an opportunity to get good money on him now.
