In November 2022, protests happened in Ireland after an influx of 65,000 migrants/asylum seekers. These protests, whilst mostly peaceful, did include some disturbance, including fires. Local communities organised them.

Andy Burnham has pledged to cut business rates for pubs by 20% if he becomes Prime Minister. He also proposed abolishing business rates entirely for cafés, hairdressing salons and retail shops. It would be funded by increasing taxes on online tech giants.
