๐ข Statement and Apology
๐ด We were there among tens of thousands of detainees, living with them every detail of the tragedy. For those who tasted, they knew, and for those who lived the pain, it's not like those who only heard about it. Then God honored us with salvation. We came out carrying their concerns, committing ourselves to "their rights" to convey their voices to the world. We worked tirelessly for years, sparing no effort, time, or money.
๐ However, that was not enough to ensure continuity, and quickly, the moment of pause came under the weight of depleting the support we could provide. God decreed, and He is the best of planners.
๐ค We apologize for stopping before completing our mission:
๐ Firstly, to every detainee still suffering behind bars, and to every forcibly disappeared person still inside the dungeons of torture.
๐ Secondly, to every mother, wife, daughter, son, sister, brother, and friend of every detainee or forcibly disappeared person who has not lost hope in their freedom and still awaits their moment of deliverance.
๐ต We hope for a soon return to continue what we started until every prisoner of conscience in Egypt regains their freedom.

๐ด The Forgotten Crime..
๐ In January 2016, Giulio Regeni, a 28-year-old Italian doctoral student at the University of Cambridge in Cairo, disappeared before his body was found with signs of horrific torture.
๐ The Egyptian police provided justifications for his murder, including claiming he was killed in a car accident, and that the motive behind the crime was sexual. When all these claims failed, the police resorted to eliminating 5 individuals with theft records, alleging their involvement in his murder.
๐ They also presented testimony from the sister of one of the deceased, claiming that he gave her a red bag with the flag of Italy on it 48 hours before his death. Inside the bag was a foreign passport, credit cards, a phone, 5000 Egyptian pounds, a piece of hashish, a women's wristwatch, and 3 pairs of sunglasses.
๐ However, this narrative did not convince Italy, and the Egyptian prosecution announced the innocence of the 5 suspects of Regeni's murder in September 2016.
๐ Yet, Regeni's killer and those who covered up the evidence, including the ones who eliminated the five victims, remained far from punishment.

๐ด On the first night of Ramadan, special forces stormed the heavily guarded Gamsa Prison, assaulting detainees with batons and gas.
๐ Subsequently, 10 detainees were "renditioned" to high-security prisons: Wadi al-Natrun, Borg al-Arab, and Minya.
๐ The raid and rendition had no justification, especially after assurances from national security officers overseeing the prison just days prior to improve the detainees' living conditions.
๐ Among those renditioned was Hanzzala Ahmed El-Mahy, who recently attempted suicide in protest against his solitary confinement.
๐ Hanzzala comes from a family subjected to persecution - including his mother - ranging from extrajudicial killing to disappearance and detention!!
๐ It's worth mentioning that his late grandfather, "Abdel Fattah Ismail," was one of the three victims of the 1965 executions.

Ramadan and fasting used to hold some significance for national security officers and interrogators in my mind, but I was mistaken...
They didn't hesitate to summon the forcibly disappeared for interrogation and torture - at any time - before sunset, between sunset and dinner, or before the dawn call to prayer... The victims were always subjected to electric shocks; I would listen to their horrifying screams.
One of the interrogators once muttered to himself - one day - aloud: 'I just got back from an electric shock and torture session, stripped the kid naked, and he said to himself, should I pray Dhuhr or make ablution first?' Then he concluded that what he did was his duty, and that he was serving the commander, then he began to pray: Allahu Akbar!

๐ด Historical Relations between Egypt and Europe... Supporting Dictatorship and Ignoring Violations
๐ Amnesty International has called on European Union leaders to ensure that Egyptian authorities adopt clear standards for human rights, especially lifting censorship on the media and other restrictions imposed on freedom of expression, halting the crackdown on civil society, and releasing all arbitrarily detained individuals for peacefully exercising their rights.
๐ Eve Geddie, Director of the European Institutions Office at Amnesty International, stated: "EU leaders cannot ignore these violations, and any agreement or arrangement for cooperation must include clear guarantees regarding human rights."
๐ During the summit attended by Sisi, the President of the European Commission, and the current President of the European Union, as well as the Prime Ministers of Belgium, Cyprus, Italy, Greece, and Austria, the European Union decided to elevate the strategic partnership with Egypt.
๐ They also pledged 7.4 billion euros in grants and loans to Cairo until the end of 2027.

๐ด Even members of the armed forces have fallen victim to arbitrary arrests and enforced disappearances. The fate of "Hassan Sabry Mohamed Ali," a non-commissioned officer in the armed forces, along with a number of citizens who protested against the high cost of living and poor economic conditions in the Dikheila area of Alexandria, remains unknown since their arrest on March 15th.
๐ Lawyers stated that severe blackout measures were imposed on seven individuals who were presented to the State Security Prosecution in connection with the Dikheila protests.
๐ Security forces apprehended Hassan Sabry and dozens of others after dispersing a spontaneous protest ("We're hungry, Sisi") that erupted following Friday prayers on March 15th. According to human rights sources, security forces assaulted and maltreated Hassan Sabry El-Morqasawy, an air force non-commissioned officer, who happened to be passing by the Dikheila protest, and refused to allow the police to mistreat and insult the demonstrators.
๐ It is worth mentioning that "Abdel Gawad Mohamed El-Sahlamy," a police sergeant at Karmouz police station, aged 45, protested alone on top of a billboard in Sidi Gaber Square in Alexandria, raised the Palestinian flag, stripped off his police uniform, and described President Sisi as a traitor before being arrested and severely beaten on March 1st.

๐ด Ten years have passed since my father, Ismail Gresh, has been unjustly imprisoned, with no hope or power to change his fate.
๐ Allow me to tell the story of my father, Ismail Gresh:
๐ On the night of March 17, 2014... the doors of our house were knocked with terrifying and horrifying knocks. I woke up frightened and terrified. As I approached, my father was opening the door with a smile I can't forget until now, as if he was saying, "You will never see fear in my eyes." He went down with them, calm and steadfast.
๐ Then my mother went out to the balcony shouting "Down with the military rule," and I went out with her shouting "Down with all the military dogs."
๐ I went down and stood in the street and said goodbye to my father for the last time. Since then, I haven't seen him again, and with him disappeared all meanings of security and safety.
๐ Not even 10 days passed before I started to be chased too, and I had to walk instead of being with my family in their ordeal.
ยซTen years of injusticeยป
๐ Ten years that made all his dreams in life to reduce the number of prisoners with him... or to install a fan in the summer so they could breathe.
๐ Ten years that made his health deteriorate noticeably...
๐ The last thing I heard from my father was that he was desperate, he even said, "What can I do? Life here is easier." He found nothing to help him endure, so he helped himself with despair... he despaired of everything, from failed attempts at appeals and appeals... he despaired of his life...!!
May God release my father and all the oppressed..

๐ด Despite repeated claims of concern for women and his efforts to provide privileges for them, women did not suffer as much as they did throughout the era of Sisi.
๐ They were considered the weakest link in his opposition chain: girls, women, and elderly women, who suffered all kinds of violations, starting from forced disappearance to prolonged imprisonment.
๐ Thousands of female detainees were subjected to physical, verbal, and psychological violence, as well as mistreatment in general, including medical neglect and poor detention conditions.
๐ Moreover, they were victims of "rotation" despite the end of their imprisonment periods in fundamentally fabricated cases.

๐ด In the place where officers of the late President Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat were killed, the massacre of the stage occurred on July 27, 2013, coinciding with the Rabaa Al-Adawiya sit-in that followed the military coup in Egypt.
๐ The leader of the military coup at the time, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, preceded the massacre by calling on the Egyptian people to descend to the squares to authorize the armed forces to confront potential violence and terrorism. Only hours passed before the events of the stage unfolded, highlighting the role of gangs of thugs in protecting police armored vehicles!
๐ The massacre of the stage is considered one of the evidences of impunity, as those who survived the victims were sentenced to imprisonment, life imprisonment, and even death!
๐ Dr. Hassan al-Shafie, advisor to the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and member of the Senior Scholars Authority, considered the incident a grave injustice unprecedented in Egypt even in the most dictatorial eras.

๐ด What crime did the girls commit by preparing food for their relatives who are prisoners of conscience?

๐ด The Arab countries, including Egypt, found themselves at the bottom of the Global Freedom Index in 2023.
๐ต The report highlights aspects of political and public freedoms and rights, and the extent to which the Egyptian government adheres to them.
๐ Egypt scored 18 out of 100 points, with the most significant indicators as follows:
- Political Rights: 6/40
- Civil Liberties: 12/60
๐ The report indicates that since President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi came to power following the 2013 coup, Egypt has increasingly been ruled in an authoritarian manner. The report adds that there is hardly any political opposition in the country; expressing any dissent, regardless of the means, can lead to criminal prosecution and imprisonment.
๐ Furthermore, civil liberties, including press freedom and the right to assemble, are subjected to strict restrictions.
๐ Security forces commit human rights violations, and extrajudicial killings go unpunished, enjoying impunity from prosecution.

๐ด The cycle of brutal torture and inhumane treatment, including stripping, continues among detainees being rotated in Sharkia Governorate, some of whom have been imprisoned for 11 consecutive years.
๐ Perpetrators often escape punishment, and incitement prevails. These practices fall within the realm of crimes against humanity, according to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
Rotation of compiled reports โผ๏ธ
๐ The use of compiled reports by the National Security Apparatus in Sharkia aims to prolong the detention of hundreds of detainees who have been granted release orders or have served sentences exceeding 10 years.
๐ This involves consolidating detainees, stored in refrigerated units, from various centers in the governorate into a single report. Despite many detainees being granted release orders after two years of imprisonment, in accordance with criminal procedural law, the joy of release is shattered at the doors of the dark rotation tunnel.
๐ It's worth noting that the wait in refrigerated units for rotation is rife with horrific violations, making a return to prison the ultimate fear for detainees.

Abdul Jawad El-Sahlami, from Beban village in Kom Hamada district, Beheira Governorate, is a father of three. His actions were a response to the Israeli occupation's genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, the closure of the Rafah crossing, and his empathy towards the suffering of Gaza residents under siege, leading to starvation and claiming the lives of many children.

๐ด Workers at the Misr Spinning and Weaving Company launched a protest and strike on Thursday, February 22nd, demanding the implementation of the minimum wage approved by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
๐ The Governor of Gharbia participated in the escalation when he refused to accept a payslip from one of the workers to review it, saying, "I don't have my glasses." The worker replied, "I will read it for you, my salary is 3500 pounds, how am I supposed to live?" The governor responded, "I used to earn 37 pounds," which angered the workers.
๐ The National Security responded to the sit-in with a campaign of summons for the workers, followed by detention until midnight. Additionally, four workers were unlawfully detained for several days and were not released until after calls for escalation.
๐ The Revolutionary Socialists Movement considered El-Sisi's decision on the minimum wage, despite its low amount, as a publicity attempt to improve the image of his regime rather than a relief for the workers and employees who are living in catastrophic conditions. The movement affirmed its rejection of the policy of repression and terrorism practiced against them.
๐ The movement condemned the financial strictness and the policy of starvation towards workers living below the poverty line, while exorbitant salaries are paid to senior state employees, including those in the presidency, governors, judges, army and police officers, and advisors in government agencies.
