@esplanerd@hotahotasa45084 Hence taking off shoes indoors. Sitting on the uncovered ground in outside places is a cultural taboo, especially for older people. There are some limited exceptions, like with a blanket down or at certain events. But sitting on the bare ground isn’t something Japanese people do.
@esplanerd@hotahotasa45084 Obviously I can’t speak for OP’s state of mind, but yes, public shaming for bad behavior is something that happens in Japan, more than here. It’s not got the “Karen” connotation there.
Also, just sitting on the ground in public areas marks them as tourists, or…
@esplanerd@hotahotasa45084 …at least not unaware or uncaring of local culture.
Japan has a strong emphasis on cleanliness. People will look disgusted or even chide you for sitting down on the street curb. They have a strong outside/inside distinction, with outside places considered unclean.
@esplanerd@hotahotasa45084 It’s not “made up”, it’s cultural.
1st, TDR bans outside food & drink, which they have (a picnic area is outside the parks). Japanese culture strongly values rule-following.
2nd, blocking walkways/eating in paths is seen as rude, messy, & inconsiderate.
That’s the frustration.
@RandmDisneyDude All expenses paid for Yak & Yeti, Tiffins, Sanaa, Ohana, Trader Sam’s, Kona (for Tonga Toast breakfast), Three Rivers, Barcelona Lounge, Toledo, Hoop-dee-doo, AND Victoria and Albert.
Red clears on food and drink alone.
@CoasterK24 I’m not too mad they cheaped out and used a squier instead of a real fender (tho they should’ve since it’s out of guest reach), but I am mad it’s a short scale Mini. Gross. (🙃)
Definitely a cool homage/easter egg tilted at that angle.
@jake_coasters Baby IG next to baby Montu is an easy win imho. Add a couple mid-tier thrill flats and Pantopia becomes the perfect part of the park if you’re too short (or too scared) for the bigger coasters.
@HarrisonHighto2 Yeah, OKW isn’t the best answer. Saratoga is a better fit.
That said, Gran Destino Tower was literally designed by a firm that builds retirement homes.
