I get the point, but cramming doesn’t equal intelligence.
Memory helps, no doubt. But understanding is what actually shows whether someone can think.
I remember a lecturer in uni who used to complain about this. He once said if it were up to him, we would write law exams with our textbooks and authorities beside us. What he wanted to test was reasoning, not memory.
But students respond to the system they are in.
If the system rewards cramming, many people will cram. Everyone is trying to survive and secure their grades.
I’ve written courses where those who reproduce the lecturer’s notes almost word for word often pass more than those who write down their own understanding of the course.
So I’m slow to blame the students.
Sometimes, it’s the system that quietly encourages the behavior.
However, it’s not a healthy academic culture.
You might get that first class. But if your whole university life was built on cramming without understanding, it will show.
Because storing information in your head is not the same thing as being able to think with it.
Any music execs that use Chartmetric regularly for A&R/to scout talent and wouldn't mind answering a few questions?
You can help me share if you see this, too.😔
Thank you.
I know this is not LinkedIn but I'm happy to share that I'm starting my internship at ALUKO & OYEBODE.
Another month to learn law from a world-class perspective.
Good morning sir.
I just want to tell you that over 200 students have been asked to withdraw from UI based on their bad academic standing at the end of last session.
It is clear that’s what you need to see to believe that UI has not dropped standard. I hope you’re happy about this news now sir.
Enjoy the rest of your day.🙏
What a ride it has been!
From hawking amala in the streets of Lagos for many, going homeless multiple times, and so much more that I can't express, I am now a law graduate.
I'm grateful to God for how the journey keeps unfolding.
Slide 2: Project
I have been seeing people drag my class from pillar to post because of the number of first class we produced and I find it so funny.
I finished with a 2:2 and I can tell you, I worked my life out for it. Despite being close to getting a 2:1, no shady business was done.
Re-introducing....
Went from crashing out about how I didn't want to study law, to finding passion in sport law and then graduating with a first class.🤭❤️
This is one of the days I leave the flowers and take the whole garden.🤩🤩🤩🤩
