In 2016, a dog in Almaty slipped into a reservoir and found itself trapped. The steep walls and powerful current left it with no way out.

A man who witnessed the scene rushed to help, but the dog was too far down, and he couldn’t reach it alone. As the situation grew desperate, more strangers stepped forward without hesitation. They formed a human chain, linking their arms and reaching deep into the rushing water.

Together, they successfully pulled the dog to safety and in the process, saved the man who had risked his own life trying to help the poor dog.

Ten years later, a privately funded monument was built to immortalise the kindness and show the incredible things ordinary people can achieve when they come together .
