Old fashioned news junkie, Christian Humanist, peace lover. Saddened by violence. Appalled by the naked sin of racism of many. RT doesn't imply endorsement.
She's tenacious like a bulldog, amply qualified to be Minister of Justice or NPA head but race based politics will never afford her the real opportunity to lead... Pity
Well said. I would add to this: when media employ "analysts" please ensure they understand what the verb "analyse" means and don't waste our viewing time spewing forth their own propaganda. @eNCA had some terrrible "analysts" so much so that I turned to SABC more than once.
Editors: please de-platform Jacob Zuma unless what he has to say is actually newsworthy.
Spreading misinformation is not news.
I know the drama drives viewership but please be responsible.
This is a huge child care centre in Mahikeng, North West. One of the many abandoned projects of our govt. I feel like saying, politics aside but how? The SA govt is failure personified. This is not the only one, there are numerous other public amenities left to rot.
Sad that this has to be said. In a constitutional democracy we should respect everyone’s right to peaceful protest and religious / other affiliation. It is something South Africans can be proud of, in general. We should not lose sight of the value of tolerance.
In every game in a World Cup tournament one needs an accomplished place kicker. Boks lost because of poor game management and selection, and the Irish took full advantage. Hope Bok management will learn.
It is shameful that the city, by implication, admits its dereliction of duty in allowing this situation to exist and has done nothing about it if these pics are anything to go by. Shame on the city exco and its officials!
Fact-check: performative, violent raids with media in tow can’t hide the failures of basics: building inspections, provision of shelters; social housing. Maintenance of city systems of electricity, water and built infrastructure. The people in the buildings are not the problem.
@karynmaughan Your analysis is scary. The state of the land like that prior to the outburst in 1976. Different issues, but same treatment of the have-nots by governments that differ only in their make-up and laws at their disposal. But precisely the same devil-may-care attitude towards people.
Do you know that every time you let security guards scan your SA license card barcode, you're giving them a perfect digital starter kit of information for identity theft?
That barcode even includes an image of your face.
And yet the organisations that employ these systems don't seem to think they need to account for how that data is used, stored or destroyed.
According to POPIA you are in your rights to submit a Data Subject Access Request to any company or property owner employing security that scans your data.
The DSR must provide information on what data they have for you, how it is stored and retained. The organisation must provide this information by law.
As consumers we should consider a campaign to submit DSRs every time this happens to us, until we receive assurances that the persons handling the data have no access to it, that it is stored securely, that it is deleted after a period and that it cannot be used for any other purpose.
YEH RIGHT, Like the Deputy President was in the vehicle with you! My goodness, do you take the public or the courts for fools?: We were protecting SA’s second most important citizen, says accused police officer in highway assault case https://t.co/ApwILUFIxF
So, @CityofJoburgZA goes ahead and hikes the value of my property 27%, despite my objection (including estate agents' valuation) ... What now? Anyone else in this boat?
@Richard_Spoor Occurs to me that the number of cops reported to be in this security detail, if correctly reported, is the size of an Infantry Company. Three platoons plus an HQ platoon perhaps?!
Cheeky call from @MultiChoice this morning. Wants to speak to my partner - "Tell her we phoned!". Won't say why. Puts down the phone. This is the new, uncaring, F... u... way of doing client relations.
@karynmaughan Congratulations Karyn Maughan and may you have plenty of energy and fortitude going forward in your work. I have no doubt the late Helen Suzman slept with a smile on her face last night, as did other gone but not forgotten journalists of the past!
