This was apt to happen. Year after year, establishment Democrats underdelivered. They failed to codify Roe v Wade in the late 2000’s despite enjoying substantial majorities in both houses of Congress plus the Presidency. They also failed to advance a “Medicare-for-all” bill to the floor of Congress which a majority of Americans have long wanted. In a snub to young voters, they turned a blind eye to the obvious slaughter of civilians in Gaza.

The rallying cry of the party elders has been, and still is, that Republicans are far worse, and that they, the Democrats, are the lesser of two evils. That doesn’t put food on the table for average Americans.

So, progressives rising up was a fully predictable outcome.
