If we continue to put the thirst for power over people and progress no one wins.

For how long should young people be called to go to the streets? When will you call them to go to the factories you have built to work?
When will you call them to go to the institution of excellence you have created to reach their fullest potential? Pass all day, all tem—una say go demonstrate. But where are you? Are you at the frontlines with them? On the street with them? Risking it all with them? No oh you day across the ocean and over the sea.

If we continue to put the thirst for power over people and progress no one wins.

What young Sierra Leoneans need is to raise their voices, mobilize for social justice and press for progress with the understanding that change does not and will not come overnight. And real change for Salone is definitely not going to come even if you change the government.

The change we need is one of personal responsibility, accountability (even if na you padi or your party) and zero tolerance for indiscipline and corruption.

Right now you have people who want President Bio to go only so they can replace them to do the same things they’re criticizing them for. Which kind change dan day?

Nigeria as messed up as it is, their leaders went to court and used the available channels to protest against the elections. Their justice system is as baimbashkay as our own, but Atiku and Obi used the law. How do you want to lead a country whose justice system you won’t use? How do you make the system better if you don’t use it? When you become president are you going to get rid of the courts? Because the same wan na im go day day.

There are no challenges today that are bigger than Sierra Leoneans—not a single one. Not even the $40 million KAPOWERSHIP debt. The only way we are going to find solutions is if our leaders find common ground.

Many years ago I was in court for custody of my son. And the judge said that the decisions he will make will be decided by one thing only—what is in the best interest of the child—not what I or the father want. I got custody because a judge decided it was in the best interest of the child.

But to this day, every decision I make about my son is guided by that principle. A lek ah vex pan im papa tay, I make sure I do everything in my power for him to visit his father, including buying plane tickets and biting my tongue even when I am right. Why? Because what is in the best interest of my son is for him and his dad to have a relationship. I foster that relationship because I want what is the best for my son. It’s not about me or what I like or my ego.

The leaders of Sierra Leone on all sides have to ask—what is in the best interest of the Sierra Leonean people and our nation’s progress. If that underscores all things there is no way they wont find solutions to our problems.
